“Very clean and quiet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

During a spontaneous "road trip" through Wisconsin and Michigan we stayed here for one night. I was concerned as we pulled into the parking lot because there weren't any other cars and all of the other motels seemed to be busy. I asked to see a room and was shown a large King room near the desk. (I was in hotel management for over ten years and I can inspect a room very thoroughly and quickly.) I was surprised by the cleanliness of the room and the reasonable rate.

When we asked why they weren't as busy as the other nearby motels the clerk told us it was because they don't have a pool or spa. This was great for us, it meant less noise and we were able to park my husband's highly regarded "baby" right outside the front door, which mad him feel better. Besides being very clean and quiet, the room was quite comfortable with a small desk and chair, a small sofa and coffee table and a comfortable bed with both firm and soft pillows.

The bathroom amenities could have been better; body soap, face soap and shampoo, but for the price I really did not expect much more. The continental breakfast was convenient with excellent coffee.

We stayed in a king room, which was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is on the west side of the highway and the broad walk is very accessible for an early morning walk along the lake. We paid $90 for the room.

We went for a weekend ride with no plans or reservations which can be dangerous in the U.P. of Michigan in the summer. It was getting late and the first several motels were full and then we found this place with rooms available. It is a clean and quiet motel on US 2 across the road from lake Michigan. The staff were nice and accommodating. I would stay there again no problem!

The receptionist was outstanding and very accommodating. The double room was large but needed serious upgrading. The bedspreads were the type I immediately remove and place on the floor. The blanket on my bed had a small cigarette burn and the mattress was of the older , much too "springy " type. The television was vintage. On the positive side, the room was spotless . Breakfast choices were limited. I paid $88 for the night which was far too much for a clean but unexceptional experience.

We stayed one night. Check in was quick and we paid 79.00 for a king room with AAA discount. The room and bed was fine. Breakfast was mediocre so I passed on that except for coffee. It suited my purpose to stay here for one night. If I was vacationing in the area I would likely choose waterfront on Lake Michigan. I would return to this motel when passing through the area.

Room Tip: Our room was at the rear of the hotel on the 2nd floor, north side and was very quiet.

Have stayed in this motel twice a year over the last few years. Unfortunately, the price keeps going up and the quality down. We recently stayed for one night in a one king bed room. It cost $120 (and that's with the AARP discount!), which is way overpriced for what you get. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom and they felt like sandpaper. 2 little tiny bars of soap that aren't usable in the shower. When I asked the desk clerk about big bars of soap, I was told that this is all the have now. There was one little bottle of shampoo and no other amenities. Definitely NOT worth $120 per night. Will not stay there again. Same goes for the Comfort Inn, which is owned by the same person.

We stayed in this hotel for a night, the hotel was nice, the bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. The hallways and rooms looked old but it was Ok for a night stay. Considering the quality of stay, the price was on the higher side.
