“Nice property in downtown Manistee”
Reviewed September 15, 2011

I stayed here while in town for business in May. I happened to be in town during the flood another user posted about, and yes it did happen. It did a great deal of damage to many homes and businesses in the area. The bottom floor of the hotel was flooded. Construction is to be expected. I don't know when it will be completed, I'd call and ask the hotel.

As for my stay, the staff was great. It's ran by a very friendly family. The room was decent and everything worked fine. It's not a Hilton so don't expect one, it's also not a "pit" as someone else described it... The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's right on the river walk that you can follow all the way to the beach. It has a good location in the center of town as well, if you're in to shopping or visiting one of the local watering holes. I was sent to Manistee again recently and was disappointed I didn't get to stay here. I'd stay again for sure.

Room Tip: Try to get a River View Room.

Run down, used up, and waaaaay over priced. No ice. Desk clerk very unhelpful. Horrible stay. Definitely will NOT go back.

Room Tip: don't stay in the lower level: it's even worse. There must have been a recent flood.

The Inn is okay, but the downtown area is a dead zone with little to do and not much to offer. There is a nice 1.75 mile river walk and a marina at the back of the hotel. Basically, if you didn't arrive on a boat or plan to charter a boat, you're better off staying elsewhere.

We went by boat and had a river view suite booked. The room was in the process of being renovated, the chairs were falling apart, no refrig, no microwave, the tv remote didn't work, the phone was disconnected, the ice machine for the motel wasn't working-we had to walk to get ice. We were charged an additional fee to use the boat slip which we were never told about when booking the room. The breakfast set-up was unbelievable-a tiny little room and no place to sit and eat. After 1 night we opted to leave earlier than planned and will never go back or recommend to anyone.

What a pit and grossly overpriced. The whole place is like an amatuer construction project. They allegedly had a flood (3 months ago) and haven't bothered to finish the repairs. What work has been done looks terrible. We were awakened each morning before 5 AM by very loud trucks that parked right outside our window. We had to leave the window open (despite the missing screen) because the drapes covered the air conditioner. Absolutely no mention was made of this when we made the reservation and the "manager" refused our request for any adjustment to our bill because of the terrible condition of the room. We would sleep in our car before we would stay here again.

Lots of excuses - we had 7" of water in here so we're in the middle of redoing the rooms. Then why rent them out? Our co-owner died yesterday! Our room had a sink within a vanity NEXT TO THE BED but not hooked up even though there was a full bath on the other side of the wall but no bedside table to put your eye glasses on. The bathroom vent was vented back into the sleep area. The moldy smell was terrible and they knew it because they had a large canister of mold/odor remover sitting on top of the television. There was no remote for the television and never had been since the buttons were nearly worn clear of any readable surface. There was NO alarm clock/clock radio in the room. The cleaning staff told us in order to shut our door securely, we had to slam it - HARD! The sheets didn't fit the beds and came loose during the night. There wasn't ANYWHERE to hang your clothes except for a hook on the back of the bathroom door. We paid $138/night for this "resort" accomodation for each of 2 nights! Unbelievable! Y'all don't want to stay there!
