We docked at the municiple marina along the river downtown. It's a beautiful river and likely very beautiful year round (we were there in August). It has a nice riverwalk which lets you enjoy it from the start of the mouth at Lake Michigan all the way to Manistee Lake.

Manistee is a very clean and friendly town with lots of water. The manistee river is an extremely versatile waterway. Good for canoeing, kayaking, boating, or excellant fishing.

This is a nice place to visit. It was adjacent to our hotel. We have to be able to walk down a fair amount of steps to get there. We walked our dog there in the evening. Many fishing boats docked there. There are also opportunities for chartered fishing boats there. It is free to visit and nicely kept.

The big Manistee river is world known for its trout fishing in the spring and its salmon fishing in the fall
But the steelhead are biting NOW
And when you have a successful day on the river you have an awesome meal

Very good fishing, canoeing & kayaking and hiking. A beautiful section of the North Country trail runs along the river through Manistee County.

The Big Manistee River is slower paced opposed to the Little manistee. Both are nice clean rivers for spending a day a float. Great photo ops and eagle sightings.

Manistee is a friendly town and the river walk is lovely. We enjoyed the historical marker and the river-watching, and were able to go back and forth from the shops to the sightseeing which made it perfect for the different interests and attention spans of our family members!

It's impressive that this community built this river walk. It has to have been very expensive. It is something you might expect in a bigger city. He river is active with Lake Michigan boaters and fisherman. You can walk all the way from town to the lake. It's is very pretty and the views are constantly changing. Hats off to the people who thought this up and made it a reality.
