“Little River in Manistee, MI.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We stayed at the hotel at Little River in Manistee we have been there a couple times now to spend the night. The rooms have always been very nice and can even get smoking rooms if you ask. They were clean and roomy, everything was great except their was no refrigerator or microwave. The food was great and the casino can be a lot of fun.

Room Tip: just know what you want and ask for it............book a little early so they can fill your needs

I have stayed, eaten and played here numerous times and have never had a problem with bad service, dirty rooms or bad food. As a matter of fact, I think just the standard rooms that I have stayed in at least 15 times are above average and better than many other places. The casino is clean and they are pretty good at cleaning up the ash trays and used cups. Good stuff :)

We just returned from a two night stay and we were not impressed. When making the reservation for our "free room" offer, we were told that the hotel was booked solid and no matter how we altered our travel plans, the second night was not available without an upgraded room at a cost of $119. After speaking to the player's club, the second night was comp'd in the upgraded room and we agreed to change rooms during our stay. We checked with the front desk on our second day and the standard room was available, negating the need to change rooms and use a comp. As a matter of fact, announcements were being made throughout the casino that rooms were available if any guest desired to stay in the hotel! The room appeared to be moderately but was acceptable. The walls between the rooms are tissue paper thin! During our stay, with different guests in the room next door, we could CLEARLY hear every word of their conversations and their morning yawns, coughs, sneezes, etc! The guest above us could be heard walking over to the heat/air and turning the unit on! We dined at both the Heron and the Willows. The food was good at the Heron but the service was poor. Our burgers and fries arrived, less ketchup. Twenty minutes later, still no ketchup at our table, while our waitress could be seen holding the requested bottle of ketchup and chatting away with guests at another table. A second request was made from another server and, after waiting for her to chat with other servers, the ketchup arrived to our table some 25 minutes later. By that time the food was cold. The second night, we chose to dine at the buffet. The buffet was awful and many other guests agreed! Much of the food appeared to be hours old, with no attention from the staff. Other entrees were empty and not being replenished. The broccoli was mush; the pasta bar was completely unattended and had appeared to have food displayed from two days ago; the soups were cold and unappetizing and after seeing a server stick her finger in the creamed soup to check the temperature, they became even for unappetizing. Two pieces of warm melted cream pie were displayed on the dessert bar, while the melted chocolate for dipping appeared to have never been turned on and resembled chunky asphalt and the ice cream machine was out of order. After asking for additional dessert selections, an obviously perturbed attendant came out and threw some additional plates of the same warm melted pie onto the dessert bar. The entire buffet was pitiful and quite frankly, much of it was unappealing and unedible. Numerous guests complained and did receive refunds, including ourselves. The acting supervisor of the buffet apologized profusely, accepting responsibility but it is obviously a gross lack of staff training and careless attitudes of an entire staff. We did use the pool and whirlpool, as well. After dipping into the whirlpool, a brown scungy foam was noted and we retreated back to our room to shower immediately. Overall, our stay was poor. The soundproofing is a terrible problem that obviously would be almost impossible to address. As far as the food- Years ago, the Heron served some of the finest food in the area. It has been reduced to average food run of the mill selections and poor service. The Willows buffet is deplorable. The pool and whirlpool were overrun with kids and obviously needed chemical treatments for cleanliness and bacteria control. We would not recommend this hotel or stay there in the future.

We're not huge gamblers, but were offered free lodging. Much to our surprise & delight, we were provided the Deluxe Fireplace Suite for 2 nights. The North End room (non-smoking) had a sitting room w/large dining table, comfy chair, large couch, fireplace, flat screen TV, mini-fridge & microwave. Bedroom had a king size 4 poster bed, large closet, flat screen TV bathrobes. Room had 2 full bathrooms. The master bathroom was large w/2 separate sinks, shower, commode & a large, deep, jacuzzi tub. 3 phones, ironing bd, 2 safes & 2 hairdryers. Exceptionally clean & quiet. Fitness room well-equiped, pool clean & spacious. Staff are always helpful & pleasant. Didn't win any money, but LRCR is our favorite casino/resort for the food, staff, & cleanliness of rooms/gambling floor. Not to mention Manistee is one of our most favorite towns to visit in Michigan!

Room Tip: North End is newer and quieter. It is non-smoking, but a person can smoke on the gambling floor, so...

My husband and I just needed a break from home and our children,so we decided to spend a few nights at Little River. It was Awesome!! We had the best customer service. We got deals the moment we checked in. It was a savings of over $120. Even with all the people that come in there, they remember us by name. The servers in the restaurants remembered what we drank, they could not have been any nicer. We will definately be going back again and again.

Rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. Every single staff member I encountered was friendly and accommodating. The restaurants have very good food and the breakfast buffet was very tasty. The only two negative aspects were the smoking that is allowed. And the young children in the jacuzzi splashing around. All in all, Little River is very accomodating to their guests.

From check in to check out this Hotel is Awesome!! Rooms are very spacious and clean!! They also have a great pool and hot tub. They had our room ready when we arrived. We enjoyed a great dinner in The Heron. The food was outstanding and the portions very generous! The wait staff was very friendly and helpful! We got a great midweek rate. We have stayed at this hotel before and we have always got great service. We were flying out on vacation from Manistee and I just shorten a pair a pants that morning and did not check them. They were still a little long so I went to the front desk to see if they had a sewing kit. They did but they also told me they had someone that could shorten them for me!!!! I just had to give them a tip!! That saved my night was able to use the pool and hot tub!! What a great service!!!

Room Tip: Never had a bad room!
