We went to Little River Casino as a getaway for my wife's birthday. We got lucky and were able to get a room just as a walk up to the counter. Having their players club card saved us some money off of the room. The rooms were larger than we expected. The room was clean and well laid out. The bathroom was spacious. The bed was comfortable. I was not expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised on how nice it was. We have stayed at other casinos with hotels in Michigan, but this one was probably the nicest. They had a nice buffett. Also drinks at the bar were reasonable. We won some and lost some at the slots, but overall a nice stay. The slot machines seemed to a little loser than other casinos we have visited. We like Little River Casino more than Soaring Eagle and the Kewadin casinos. It's a little out of the way, but well worth the trip. We can't wait to go back!

The hotel is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. The casino is somewhat small but very fun. They have a wide variety of machines and a small table games area. They also have as much pop and popcorn as you need. I really enjoy sitting outside when they have the bon fire on and the "river" they created inside is quite phenomenal.

Room Tip: End suites with the balcony are the best

Living nearby, the wife and I usually head to Little River Casino & Hotel for gambling & fun. Free popcorn & pop while gambling, plus great deals for seniors with a players club card for breakfast. For a grand total of a little over $9 two persons over 55 with club cards will receive a breakfast buffet that's superb (made to order omlets, eggs, carving station for ham, bacon, sausage and many, many more selections). The hotel staff is super friendly and accomodating. Stayed last night with some relatives and their rooms are very nice - far more plush than Holiday Inn type rooms. Everyone was very impressed with their rooms.

Stayed here one night, May 21 with 4 biker buddies. The desk clerks were nice and helpful and joked around with us. Got a $79 rate after we opened a frequent player account. Ate at the buffet which was just average in quality. It was not open for breakfast which was disappointing but there is a deli. The rooms appeared to be very new and clean. The casino was large and cigarette smoke was not in evidence which is a problem with a lot of casinos. The resort appeared to be well-maintained and would definitely stay here again.

Our second visit and we will go back. Made the reservation for one night as a Club 55 member and asked to extend for another night when we checked in. At the time, no rooms were available for a second night, but the hotel clerk put us on a short wait list and suggested that there would likely be no problem. She was right. We got a call the next morning and were told we could extend and stay in the same room. The room was affordable, clean and, for me, well located in the South hotel. If you have difficulty walking, try for a room there, as its close to the casino and restaurants.

My wife is a non-smoker and likes that the Little River has an enclosed, non-smoking area. During our visit, unfortunately, it was closed due to construction. We visited early in May and you might want to check on this when you make your reservation, if you are a non-smoker. All in all, smoke wasn't a terrible problem for her since the casino is not filled with smokers early in the week. Its also easier to bear when you win several hundred dollars, as she did.

One shortcoming of many casinos in Michigan, including the Little River, are their pay tables for Video Poker. Unlike slot machines, you can easily determine whether a machine is "full-pay" or not. I looked everywhere for a "full pay" Jacks or Better Video Poker machine (pays 9 for a full house and 6 for a flush), to no avail. Yes, I understand that they're not in business to give money away, but it would be nice if they could put a couple of machines on the floor for more serious players. They needn't advertise it, just put 'em out there and we'll find 'em!

All in all, though, the Little River is still very much worth the trip. The employees are helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and nice. The comps are generous and easy to redeem. We'll definitely go back for a third trip before too long.

Little River needs to address the situation. The smoke is enough to make us leave and not come back.
We ate at the Heron and they had a new menu. We tried the mussels. 7 mussels for $8!!! The service was slow as well and they were not even busy.
Ordered chicken scallopini. It was steamed. Not the definition of "scallopini." Took forever to get our salads and drinks. Wil not go again.
