this was a pleasant surprise for us. It was very clean, comfortable beds, nice enclosed balcony. Chose this over another one as it had a free breakfast bar, and an enclosed hot tub and pool.
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
We stayed in the two room suite. The room was large, it had two king size beds and two sleeper sofas along with two bathrooms. It also had a table with four chairs, a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in the room. The hotel also has free Wi-Fi in the rooms.
It is not the fanciest hotel in Mackinaw City but it was clean and comfortable. You can't beat the amount of space the suite provides if you are traveling with family members or need floor space for kids to play.
Room was very clean, smelled good, quiet and in good working order, except for the bathroom door, which was hard to close (needed to have the bottom planed). Comfortable beds, each with 4 fluffy pillows. While we were on the first floor, on the back side of the hotel so we couldn't see the Mackinac Bridge, the hotel is right across the street from a nice little park with a terrific view. An upper story room with a view of the bridge was $40 more. Save your money and just go across the street for a great view. Continental breakfast included do-it-yourself fresh waffles, real fresh-brewed coffee (I absolutely hate the taste of the coffee from those dispensers that many hotels use, that basically give you watery instant coffee) Also included cereals & milk, 3 juices, hardboiled eggs, bread for toast, donuts, bananas, and bagels. Nothing fancy, but everything was fresh. Only complaint would be that there was no cream cheese for the bagels. Heated pool was great, hot tub was just right. There's a small game room with a few pinball machines, but they weren't working. Also included a small exercise machine.
Bridgeview? Not quire. Wish I would have done my homework more. King room, very small and dirty. Could barely see through the windows with all the webs, bugs and dirt. Bed uncomfortable. No fitted sheet just flat sheets. Bathroom very small. When you sat on the toilet your arm was rubbing again the corner of the sink. Grout black. 2nd night came back from a day at the Island...with only 1 bath towel. Had to call the desk and we were brought 2 towels from the pool. Don't think they've seen softener in quite some time. The outside of the building was full of bugs and spider webs. Super breakfast area was WAY too small and VERY hot. I've stayed at many Super 8's as well and this was the worst one I've ever been in. It was definitely not worth the money. Would not recommend nor would I ever stay there again. Very disappointed. Their website was very misleading.
We stayed here as a free night on our Wyndham rewards, so with that said the rooms are very noisy and the walls are paper thin. The air conditioner in the room we had kicked on and off all night and when it did it was very noisy. I tried to turn it so the fan ran continually but it would not work, it just kept going off and on all night so I finally got up and shut it off. It was very very muggy that night so the room got very stuffy and hot. Now on to the beds. The beds were very very hard. The room was fairly clean overall but nothing fancy by any means. The continental breakfast was just ok. They did have waffles you could make but ran out and we had to wait for batter . This was at 9a.m. Most of the food was gone by then also and they still had one more hour to go for breakfast. The room they use for breakfast was so hot and humid you could not stand to eat in there. We had to take our food back to out air conditioned room. Overall it was not a real bad experience as I have stayed at much worse but there are much better places to stay in Mackinac than this particular hotel.
I have stayed at several Super 8 hotels, so I know what you are supposed to get. I wasn't expecting the Grand Hotel, but I also wasn't expecting a dump. The "bridgeview suite" wasn't worth paying for - you could barely see a sliver of the water through the trees. The walls, lights, doors and windows on the outside were covered with dead moths and bird poop. The inside wasn't much better. The wallpaper was peeling and marked up. The carpeting was old and suspiciously spotted. There was a bad smell like everything was wet and moldy. The flooring in the bathroom was discolored and the grout was black. The wall lamps were hanging by the cord. The knobs were broke off the tv cabinet. The bed was uncomfortable and the blankets had holes in them. The only good thing about this place was it's location, and that's why it costs 3 times the amount of the best Super 8 I have ever stayed at. No, I did not expect the Ritz , but this place is far below normal Super 8 standards. What a rip off.
