Here's the deal. Some people on these reviews are too picky. This is a Super 8, not the Grand Hotel. If you expect five star quality, you will be disappointed. Yes you pay more, but this is Mackinaw City where the tourist season lasts only a few months. They charge alot everywhere. If you want a typical place to stay, this place is fine.
Service was very nice and pleasant. The room is your average Super Eight room--nothing to write home about, but not bad. Clean, but not stunning. The beds were not all that comfortable. The room had a mini fridge, but no iron. The lights blinked over our sink. The biggest problem was the fact that the air does not stay on. There was a problem with the thermostat location so the sensor thought the room was cool when it wasn't. The room did, however, have a ceiling fan which was really nice. Our room had a little deck that you could walk out on and sit down. That was nice, but it overlooks the parking lot. The bathroom and sink are separate, so getting ready with a group is easier. The hotel is in a good location. We walked across the street to the beach and it is about a tenth of a mile from the bridge. However, as many people have said, you cannot really see these things from the room. You will not have a stunning view. They have a breakfast, but most of the people staying at this property seemed like miser-tourist types with fannie-packs who lingered around the food for seconds and thirds. This made the eating area very crowded and hot. Plus, they have too many tables in the eating area and when we were there, the circuit breaker kept blowing out. The food was your typical waffles, cereal, bagels, juice, coffee and oats. The parking lot is very crowded and dark in the back if you arriving late. In any other place, this would be a 50-60 dollar per night place, but here it is double that.

Hotel claims bridge view.the only view is of the motel and tree tops accross the street. The pool was ice cold, the sauna would not heat and we were told by the desk that it wouldnt be fixed for a week. There were NO towels available in the pool area,we were told to use ours from the room!Going out for dinner we threw some chips to the seagulls and the desk clerk came screaming out at us and said we would be fined for feeding the seagulls! a city ordinance he claimed (there is none)
The room was very small, beds were very hard,no shampoo was in the shower and the sink was not very clean. No cups were in the room and the ice maker did not work.
Very poor and overpriced by 50% I see others feel the same way as we did---UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tried to cancel our reservation and ran into a brick wall. The web-site states we could cancel up until 4pm 3 days before check-in. When we called (at 1:30pm 3 days prior) we were told it had to be before 12noon and that there was nothing at all they could do for us. Imagine, 70 hours and 30minutes versus 72 hours and they couldn't give us a break. They could have easily had this room occupied by three days time in mid June but they wouldn't budge. As the manager told us in no uncertain terms "my hands are tied there is nothing I can do for you". Since we made our reservation by phone at their front desk they don't have to abide by what their internet site states and can go ahead and make up their own time policies. Called corporate at 2pm and they said to call the hotel directly before 4pm local time to cancel, which is the usual policy of Super 8s. Holiday Inn Express had the same 72 hour policy and totally worked with us so we could stay with them even having to cancel 1 night. Haven't even arrived yet and this is what we have to look forward to. Good luck to anyone having to stay here.

The room was not too bad, but a few things bothered us. It was fairly clean, but never up to my standards!

We asked for a bridge view, we could barely see the top of the towers, not exactly a bridge view.

The breakfast room was so small, there were not enough seats. So we decided to go outside to eat our breakfast, we sat in the wooden swing out front, the seagulls were happy to see us!

The chairs on the balcony had so many spider webs, that we decided against using them or the balcony.

The doors in the motel slam shut when you let them go, you can hear the doors throughout the whole motel slamming which meant we could not go to sleep for hours.

The bathroom sink is out in the room, so if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you have to wash your hands in the dark, because the light over the sink would have woken everyone up.

It was nice being close to the park.

King room with balcony was very very small and the balcony was the public porch. Room old with very dark and drab drapes, bedspread ect. Not the cleanest. Coffee was terrible. the cheapest of the cheap brand. We have stayed in Mackinaw several times and there are so many nice choices of hotels. We had friends who also stayed the same weekend and asked if their room was any better than ours and they said No. And, no way would they stay there again. One more thing, they need bug control. Spiders all over the outside...balcony/porch area. I asked for a different room and they said none were available. Hard to believe.

Hotel looks very nice on the outside with log style siding. But the inside of the hotel was very worn and tired and has seen better days. Our room had the same worn, tried and bland look. We paid way too much for a bridgeview room and barely got to see the bridge on our tiny balcony. The toilet backed up and overflowed in the evening, called front desk, and a toilet plunger wrapped in a garbage bag was given to me by an employee who could only say that they were off the clock. I had to fix the toilet and clean up the mess myself. In the morning the manager couldn't be found to voice my complaint. The breakfast area is no more than a closet sized room with way too many people waiting for stale doughnuts and watered down juice.

Me and my mom stayed there in the first week of August of 2007; the website said the hotel had bridge views. NO Bridge view at all; it was obstucted by the high pine trees and the motel across the street. I only got to see just part of the south tower. The room we had was not the $225 a night at all!! The room we got was dinky. The staff was rude and the maids didnt clean our room til almost 5p in the afternoon! Next month when we visit we're planning on staying at another hotel in town.
