We were going to stay here for our summer vacation, however after reading the online reviews decided to cancel. I spoke with Rick, the general manager and was told I COULDN'T cancel my room - with no explanation or apology. When I further questioned him, I was told that our 72 hour cancellation time was the day prior at noon, and I would be charged for the room for one night. I called the 800 customer care line and was told this was up to his discretion and it was his decision whether or not to give a courtesy cancellation refund. They also told me that my cancellation time was 4pm the day I called - not the day prior!
We ended up being charged TWICE for the room and have been told there is nothing that can be done about Rick's rudeness regarding my request to cancel the room. NEVER before have I been told I COULDN'T cancel a reservation! Nor have I had a GENERAL MANAGER so rude - the LEAST he could have done was apologize that I called after the cancellation deadline and he couldn't cancel the room!
Even asking the 800 number customer care for an apology for his rude behavior resulted in "we can't make him".
NEVER staying here again - nor even CONSIDERING staying here again!
Location is everything, High cost room but no view of the bridge unless you get the right rooms. No exhaust vents in the bathrooms. Lots of insects in the rooms. Could certainly use some updating. Very little space in the breakfast area, and the coffee was VERY STRONG.
Sorry for being so critical, but when spending a couple of hundred dollars a night I would expect a bit more than an average hotel room.
That being said, the pool and hot tub were nice, the pool is heated and the pool area is clean.
And the Hotel is within walking distance to most attractions.
clean, reasonable, nice staff. special covered parking for motorcycles! great location for bridge viewing and you can see St Ignace fireworks on Sat night. easy walk to town. breakfast room is a little small, no biggie. shares pools with 3 or 4 other hotels.
I met some friends here over the Fourth of July and witnessed something I've never seen. The manager chewing out, cussing and swearing, a family over the noise that their year and a half old children were making by running from the parents room to the grandparents room. The manager was saying every swear word in the book and calling the family white trash in front of the children, one of which got scared and ran away crying. Then supposedly the owner of the property came and acted the same way as he kicked his family out. Either the manager or the owner told the family that this Super 8 Motel is not a babysitter service and that they do not want children there. I stayed in a lot of hotels on business trips but have never witnessed such horrible behavior towards another human being in any situation especially, when children are present. The rooms were not very clean, but the rest of the staff was very pleasant. My recommendation.... avoid this hotel at all costs. It is apparently run by horrible human beings.
Ok room. Not overly impressed. Nice location, but away from all the shops..still w/ in walking distance. Little over priced we felt for the room.
