the picture on the internet was nice, too bad we weren't put there. We had a ground floor beach side in the old section. The folder in the room said check in is at 2:00, we were finally able to get in after 6pm. the screen on the slider was leaning on the door, vending machines close to our room weren't working, chairs on the patio was covered in spiders and dirty. Wifi was suppose to be available but the strength was only fair and I couldn't connect. The continental breakfast was very sad, the only fruit was canned pineapple and mango mix, the juice was watery, scrambled eggs I think were from a powdered mix. I won't be back

Room Tip: Ask for the new section

Great location with a nice view of the straits of mackinaw. They seemed somewhat disorganized and harried at the front desk. Our room was not ready at 5PM, even though they show a 3PM check-in. We had a 3rd floor room facing the water. Room was very nice, and clean. A couple maintanance items we told them about: Toilet seat and shower curtain rod very wobbly.

The room was dirty, there were dead midge flies every where, the breakfast was was gross and the pool was nasty on the bottom. The view was okay, the employees were very nice. The room would have been okay, if were cleaner. Couldn't open the window, the midges came right out from under the screen. I know fly's cant be helped, but this was beyond bad. The water park at the Bridge Vista was very nice for the kids.

We arrived at 4:30 and after a 20 minute wait we were told our room would not be ready for another half an hour. Check in is at 3. What's with that? We booked the room through Choice Rewards with a 20% discount, so I suppose they thought they should give us a room in the old building(not pictured for a reason.) What's with that? Room was very old and dingy, the balcony was run down and there was no privacy, just a long porch with a rail between them. If someone was on the balcony next door, you had to keep your curtains closed and of course, you pay extra for a beachfront balcony. The air conditioner was loud and was blowing out pieces of dirt onto the bed. Next morning, I asked about another room in the newer building(same wallpaper I had in the 80's), $10 more a night, same room description. What's with that? There goes the discount. Ok,the room was a little better, at least the balconies were not connected. After comparing prices of the other hotels in the area, these seem to be the most reasonable and the reviews seem to be mixed on all of them. The prices are higher now due to peak season. I would be very dissapointed to pay the rate they are now asking. The only reason I am taking the time to write this is to help you with your decision because I doubt if the owners/managers read the reviews. It doesn't seem as if they are trying to improve things, only making excuses. Would I go back? No. Very disappointed about Choice Rewards Loyalty Program.
The reason to join most loyalty programs is for the perks. A 20% discount, a good deal, but not to be put in a nasty room.
For first time visitors, the things I would like to know.
Most of the hotels are on Huron Rd. all in a row, all within a mile of downtown with shops and food along the way. If you enjoy walking, this is perfect. Even though Quality is near the end of the strip, it is still walkable. The ferries are right along the way too.
There is a $4 toll, each way, to cross the Mackinaw Bridge.
Balcony? We love to have a beachfront balcony, but we didn't use it much, we were busy with other things. It was a nice view, but it is not the ocean and neither is the beach. Keep this in mind if you are considering a beachfront room. At least, you don't have to pay to use the chairs in the beach area.

Room Tip: Beware of the old building! Do you need to pay extra for a beachfront room?

I reserved seven rooms for our family trip to Mackinaw Island. The staff here was awesome! So friendly, down to earth and accommodating. The pool and hot tub were great after a day on Mackinaw Island. The shuttle service was efficient and friendly. Would recommend anyone to stay with them. Mike and Annie J.
