“Great location”

This was a beautiful and friendly Inn. The staff including the maid were pleasant and extremely helpful! The location was excellent! The pool was small but heated and very relaxing. If you are looking for a quiet and pleasant stay this is the place for you!

Room Tip: The themed rooms were a bit dated but comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here on July 13, 2013. We loved it. We stayed in one of their "themed" rooms, Endless Summer. The room was clean, charming and smelled great. We were invited to a complimentary wine & cheese reception the evening we checked in. It was nice and relaxing. We were able to chat with some of the other guests. The location of the inn is wonderful. It is right across the street from a park that overlooks the Mackinac Bridge. There is a great beach there if you want to swim. The inn does have a pool though. My husband and I swam in the pool. There is a heater in the pool so it is always quite comfortable. The inn is a few blocks away from the downtown Mackinaw strip of shops and restaurants. You can easily walk it. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast but it is pretty bare bones so don't expect anything fancy. You get the basic yogurt, boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, etc. Since we were staying in a "themed" room we were able to have some bagels, muffins, juice and coffee delivered to our room at no charge. All in all this was a great place to stay. I will definitely stay here again!

This is a charming, homey, CLEAN little place right across the street from Colonial Michilimackinac and the Might Mac bridge. My family has been coming to Mackinaw City for at least a dozen years, and we'd never stayed at this end of town before. I can't believe it took us so long - the location is excellent. Short walk to town, and there is a shuttle to the ferry to go to Mackinac Island. The hotel has cute themed rooms, all decorated differently, and it adds a nice quirky charm to the place. The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of chairs set up so you can always find a good spot to read or just enjoy the weather. When we arrived at the hotel they let us check in early - a full week early in fact because I had clicked the wrong dates when making the reservation online and didn't realize my mistake! The owner didn't blink an eye - thankfully they still had a room available and he set us up right away. Our room was cozy and very clean. We are a family of four - mom & dad and two teenaged girls who are all quite tall. We were bumping into each other a bit in the room, and in hindsight I think we would have been better off getting two rooms so we'd have more space. And the thing is, we could have gotten two rooms for not much more than what we have paid in the past for one room at the big chain hotels. The American Boutique is so much more personal and friendly than those places,, and I can't see us going back to big when small is so much more inviting! The outdoor pool is very clean with plenty of seating - my girls said it was the best they've seen here in Mackinaw. We are sold on this hotel, and look forward to returning next year!

Walking by, we saw one of the gentleman that worked there was watering the gardens and grass for quite some time, while walking back from the lighthouse and Colonial Michilimackinac, he was still there and struck up a conversation with me and my 4 kids. He was so nice and friendly, we had a great conversation. He obviously loves people and his job, and it definitely peeked my interest into staying there next time we are up to Mackinaw. Cute little motel and gorgeous grounds!

We spent the 4th weekend in visiting Mackinac Island and stayed at the American Boutique Inn. Got the hotel to share our Michigan experience with Minnesota family. It was a great location and convenient to downtown, but not great. Rooms were cute but small and a bit dated. Very small area for breakfast and wine/cheese in the evening.

My advice - OK for a nights stay due to convenience to the wonderful downtown Mackinaw City area and bridge view, but not an great for multiple nights. Theme room was fun.

Loved this place. The landscaping is beautiful, the pool area is lovely and the hotel is exceptionally clean. The owners are very friendly and obviously love what they do and it shoes. This is where I would stay if I'm ever in Mackinaw city again.

Beautiful place to stay. Very conveniently located. Walking distance to almost everything including the downtown shopping and restaurant strip. The continental breakfast was very good. Eggs, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc. The only complaint I had, is that is it not very soundproof. You can hear the water running in the other units' bathrooms and if you stay on the ground floor, you can hear people walking around above you. For the price and the pool and the location, I highly recommend it.
One other thing...make sure to bring a cooler as there is no refrigerator in the rooms.
