“We could have done this three times and not gotten our fill...”

We had postponed our trip to Mackinac Island b/c of early morning showers and a cloudy day and decided to take the Straits Tour as recommended by people on Trip Advisor. Apparently the cloudy day kept others away which is a shame b/c the five of us (two of us and a mom with two younger kids) had a terrific time touring out into the bay and under the Mackinaw Bridge. What a view! The clouds, choppy waters, and lively wind just added to the pleasure of the trip as Captain Chris told of the sights around us and the history of the Ugly Anne. The co-captain Greg, a resident of Mackinac Island, came back and sat with us as he told us more facts about the surrounding area, even giving us some tips for touring Mackinac Island the following day.

This trip was very professionally done but was so much more enjoyable than some of the more commercial offerings. We felt right at home from the moment we bought our tickets from Chris's mom and she told us the background of the business and information regarding the boat trip. I was very impressed when I learned the mom and two kids who took the tour at the same time had originally been scheduled for the evening tour the day before but had problems getting back from Mackinac Island on time and missed their tour. Captain Chris's mom graciously told her that they would honor the tickets from the missed trip on the following day - not a problem! What nice people! This is definite must-do for both families and couples.

“Awesome trip, excellent value.”

The Ugly Anne is so cool-- and different than anything else you can do in the Straits area. My friend and I went on the sunset cruise on a Saturday evening. We enjoyed the expertly handled boat and the historic information that the crew shared-- and the drinks that were available on board! It was all very relaxing and the price was so reasonable. Thank you, Captain Chris!

“Spectacular Sunset Cruise!”
Reviewed August 18, 2011

If you are visiting Mackinaw City , experience this towns newest adventure, "Ugly Anne"!
Located on Huron Ave. next to the downtown park, on the water next to the Parasailing location is "Boat Tours Aboard Ugly Anne". Choices for daytime or sunset cruises are available. Learn about the history of the Straits with narrative and video presentation featuring the shipwrecks and local lore while traveling UNDER the "Big Mac".
I opted for the sunset cruise, for one hour departing 45 minutes before sunset, and was treated to not only an opportunity to go under the bridge, but to the beautiful night sky!
The boat is smaller than the ferries and the owner is a native of the area with wonderful stories and information to share. Bring a light jacket even in summer, sit back and enjoy the views and don't forget your camera. One adult ticket was $18.00 and the highlight of my visit. The sunset was incredible. We saw both Coast Guard Cutters in the harbor with photo opts up close. Quite a magical experience. The tours run June 1 to October 1 and private charters are available. Pick up brochures in town or go to www.mackinawtour.com. This tour is new, I actually found it by accident, and can't wait until next year to take of the day cruises. I added photos too!

“This is something you have to do!”

This was the best thing about the trip. It was so fun to have mom & dad (Pat & Bob) involved with this attraction. The owner Chris West did a wonderful job.

We loved the ride and information!

This was the best tour yet!

“Amazing”

What a great experience. How cool to say you've taken a tour of the straits on a lobster boat. The water was a little rough but the boat and crew handled it perfectly...to the point you really couldn't tell the water was rough. Very enjoyable and I would recommend to everyone. The view under the bridge is great!
