On many trips to Mackinaw City with all my teenage kids we have always stayed at the Dockside. This time with only my youngest son I decided to find less expensive lodging and the Waterfront was it. As prior reviewers have noted, it is an older property but is run well and kept clean. We had a waterfront room with twins which was large enough for the time we spent there. There is no coffee maker or iron but there is coffee available at the front in the morning along with a breakfast. We generally eat breakfast elsewhere and did this trip so I can't comment on the inn breakfast. Given the good management, I would guess that an iron would be supplied if you asked. We arrived a little early and the room wasn't ready but I was allowed to check in and it was ready when promised. I do have 2 complaints. First, the doorwall latch was broken so the door was "locked" by using a piece of wood placed between the door and the frame. It works but...Also, although there is a wood framed balcony, the top rail is so high that when you sit in a chair the rail blocks the view of the water which is kind of the point of a lakefront room with balcony. Although we didn't use the beach, it did not look as nice as that of some of the other properties to the north but that didn't appear to stop a lot of people from using it. You can also have a fire in the fire pit on the beach and there are grills available. All in all for the price, the place is fine.
