“Love this fort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic historical lesson cloaked in fun! Plan to spend a couple hours here. I like this fort better than the one on the island. The ongoing archaeological dig is very interesting. I really enjoy the re-enactors who help people to understand what it was like to live and work at the fort. Beautiful views of the straits and the bridge. You can even walk under the bridge! It was nice to see the updates and additions to the fort since the last time I was there. Enjoy your time there.

“Must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Amazing! A true history lesson on the Fort and the area. Many of the buildings have been revreated and the Artifact exhibits are amazing. Interactive activities, on our visit our 5 year old was commissoned to do chores, which included tending the garden and picking vegatables for soup. Our teenagers "joined the army". Even if your not that much into history, this place is really cool!

“We loved our visit back in time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Caution to visitors: Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here!!! We travel with a 7 month old and a 4 year old, so this is an important factor for us. But trust me when I tell you - it was well worth the time. Since we weren’t willing to make the trek onto the Island (what with all the “gear” traveling with kiddos takes) – we definitely wanted to hit Fort Michilimackinac on our recent visit (7/8-7/10/13).

We enjoyed all of the history, and the live characters really got into the act – which my 4 year old loved. Totally worth the entry fee.

Another note to parents with small children, if at all possible – leave the stroller in the car. We brought ours but it was more burden than not. Even though the vast majority of the buildings are handicapped accessible, my 4 year old wanted to walk, and the stroller was kind of a pain to push around in the grass/gravel, even with a large wheel jogging type stroller. If I had it to do over, I would leave it back in the car –put the baby in a body carrier and let the 4 year old walk.

“Great piece of history”

My kids love to visit working historical landmarks such as this. The views of the Bridge and Straits area are great on this side of town. Had a great playground for the kids, as well. We had a blast!
