Couple of places to see, but not very much here unless you do the more expensive adventure hike with the zip line. Not a place young kids would like.

First, don't forget the DEET or bug spray. Get your hair, neck, Tshirt, legs.... and again. The deer flies, and skeetos are abundant - if you are going hiking. The $7 adventure is well worth it, even for the ones who don't like roller coasters. The demonstrations could be better. More time could be spent showing the guests the wooden tools, the shingle making methods, and demonstration of how the water work under the saw mill. Some of the demonstrators just go through the motion, but don't let the guests view how the paddle wheel work.

The adventure include a brief nature walk, a rock climbing wall, and a zip line. Better safety talk need to be done, as I see 2 guests push themselves too far away from the wall, spun around, and got hurt by the rock. One should only gently push off the wall and bounce down with the feet. This is not REAL rapelling, so pushing off hard can get you hurt.

The nature talk can be good or BAD, depending on the experience of the worker. One woman spew off so much half facts that it was laugh. "Dry loving tree in the low land, wet loving tree in the highland". Without really knowing what type of tree is what, and why they occur in the order she mentioned. Then "the tanning from the cedars stain the creek brown", which really is from the tanning of ALL the leaves. A little knowledge can lead to alot of confusion.... Which I think they really should focus on a few facts, and leave the rest to the ecologists, and the hydrologists. But what can you expect from summer helps? I

This is one of Michigan's gems. Located a few minutes from Mackinaw City, Historic Mill Creek is the site of a colonial period saw mill. The park contains trails, a working saw mill, beaver dams and the Adventure Tour for a unique encounter with the nature of the park.

The Adventure Tour includes a canopy bridge through the treetops, a ride down the park's zip line and a climb on the rock wall in the forest, all for $7.

If you visit the Fort Michilimackinac and Fort Mackinac while in Mackinaw City, buy a combination ticket to add a visit to this unique park, watch the water powered saw mill demonstration and try the Adventure Tour.

The sawmill demonstration was really cool, the man working it was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The hiking trails were clean and easily walkable, though DO NOT forget your bug spray. The mosquitoes were terrible.

New this year is the zip line, rock climbing tower and viewing tower. We didn't go on the zip line or climb the rock tower, but we did climb the viewing tower. Great view from up there.

They also have put in ramp for wheelchairs, I'm assuming for the hiking trails. Most of the trails that we went on could probably accommodate a wheelchair, but not all of them, pretty rough in some places.

The gift shop was great. They even have food if you want to stay the whole day. Great place to get away from the crowds.

Historic Mill Creek is truly a treasure! Don't miss this site. The interpretors were probably the most excited and entertaining we've seen in a long time - very knowledgeable about the area, and excellent at answering questions. I can now identify any form of poison ivy! The trails in the area are beautiful and I'd encourage you to walk a few of them. Scenic, well interpreted, and a bargain.
