Stopped here for drinks and an appetizer on a packed saturday night. It's slightly off the main drag and was a great find. The calamri appetizer was delicious and the bartender made a mean gin martini. Live music was pretty good too. Caters to the slightly older crowd but still plenty of fun!

Came in to the inn on a vacation date with my girlfriend, and was welcomed by the most welcoming individual, Scott the bartender, who talked us into sitting at his bar for dinner and assured us excellent service! We obliged and he was right! From apps to entrees he took excellent care of us and we, of course, tipped a well deserved 50%! What a great time! Suggested apps calamari and for entrees planked whitefish and the steak kabobs!! Ask for Scott!

Off the main street is this gem of a restaurant. Sit on the patio if the weather allows. Don't miss the kale-bulgar salad with manchego cheese, Dijon vinaigrette, and dried cherries. Service is excellent. The VI is definitely one of Mackinac's best!

We go to Mackinac Island year every year and the Village Inn was one of our favorite restaurants. When we returned the last time, we were surprised to learn that it had been taken over by the Grand Hotel. Not only was the service slow and the food mediocre at best, but they had removed their signature appetizer- the baked whitefish dip- from the menu. We were incredibly disappointed and needless to say, will not be returning.

We are very sorry to hear that your dining experience wasn't up to par. Grand Hotel did take over the Village Inn and we are just finishing our second season. We pride ourselves on Great Service and Great Food and to hear that you were not pleased is unacceptable to our high standards. The "Signature" dish of the Village Inn was and has always been the "Cedar Planked Whitefish" and that item still holds as our "Signature Dish." It is by far the most popular and most sold item on our menu. As for the Baked Whitefish Dip, we did not take it off the menu. We still have a Great whitefish dip on our menu. The only difference is that it is not Baked, it is a cold dip served with Brown Bread. The feedback we got from our guests was that the warm fish dip was not as appetizing as the cold fish dip. We do hope that you will return and give us another chance as a dining option in the future.

We had lunch at the Village Inn. Being owned by "The Grand" we weren't sure what to expect. We sat on the outdoor patio and had a nice view. We both had sandwiches (spicy chicken and walleye). The food was good, but it was pricey. The service was slow. We had to wait a while for the waiter to come out to us for drink refills and the check. If we go back, it would be to try the "best bloody mary" on the island.
