After the hustle of the crowds and fudge shoppers choking the walks, the Carriage House
at the Iroquois Hotel is a special treat away from the Main Street noise. We look forward to lunch or dinner there each time we visit the Island.
A well appointed linen service dining room, ( you may also dine outdoors with pleasant views of the lake and harbor), offers a menu to match the decor. Lovely background music, as well.
Our lite lunch included an excellent scoop of seafood salad and a delicious turkey panini sandwich. Warm Parker House rolls were also served. I ordered a cup of the split pea soup
which tasted like too much rosemary, or some other spice. The waitress said she'd pass my
comment on but the 8.50 appeared on our bill anyway.
Notwithstanding, we'll try again next time...

Eating here has been a tradition in our family for many years and we always look forward to the great service, superior food and to die for view. Of course, the view doesn't change nor the beauty of the grounds, or the interior of the restaurant but this time we were disappointed in the menu and the food. First, the signature of the Carriage House has been the best blueberry muffins you have ever eaten - gone!! Then the menu slanted toward more gourmet than the wonderful whitefish and filets. We tried the tofu and pork tenderloin and were disappointed in both, should have stuck with the other. Even the Mackinac Fudge ice cream puffs, we dream about, were not up to snuff. For a high dollar dinner we expect the best and this year they missed the mark.

It was real nice to sit inside and have a beautiful view but the food wasn't anything special And they used cheap items. Ie. our meal came to over $100 and the bread they served was just cold packaged bread. I ordered a caprise salad and they used a generic Italian dressing (not balsamic) and so on.

We had dinner at the Hotel Iroquois in the Carriage House Restaurant. The food was very good, the view was wonderful and the dessert was to die for. Coconut Macademia cake was out of this world...my wife's Ice Cream Sundae was wonderful too.
I had the NY Strip and my wife had the Filet. Both were very good. Service was great with friendly people and a casual but smart atmosphere.

My husband and I both had great NY strip steaks, our daughter had the lamb chops. Very pricy, even for the island, but one of the "nicer" restaurants. Service was great. Our waiter was quite conversational. The view is beautiful. The drinks were great. I had some lemonade, vodka and fresh berry concoction that was fabulous.
