The Yankee Rebel Tavern was our first food stop on our visit to the island, and it was a tasty one. We started out with a portobello and hummus appetizer, which was artfully arranged and very well prepared. For our main courses, I ordered the 6 oz filet and my husband ordered shrimp and mussels diabolo. It did take a while for our food to come, but when it did it was also pleasing to look at and very yummy to eat. We both ate everything because it was so good, but it left us too full for desert. However, we had a coupon for a free desert, and so we got it to go. We didn't even open the box until we got back to our hotel, and when we did we were surprised at how large and tempting the piece of chocolate cake looked. We were very full, but we had to have a bite of it anyway, and man was it good! We saved the rest until the next night, and it remained moist and scrumptious.
Overall we liked the atmosphere and the food, but the wait time was a little long as our waiter appeared to have too many tables to handle, and was quite chatty with another table. It took us almost 15 minutes to pay the tab because he was slow with it. However, the food was great, so if you have a bit of time I definitely recommend eating there.
