Wow, wow, wow.! I loved this hotel, which feels like a wonderful B&B. it's clean and luxurious, and literally features the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and this hotel is located right in the heart of all of the action. It is also reasonably priced, though reservations are notoriously difficult to get. But keep trying - they do get cancellations and it is truly worth the effort.

I have stayed in a variety of hotels on Mackinac Island over the years, and now that I've stayed here, I will never stay anywhere else on the island.

One little, picky thing I noticed is a very slight peeling of wallpaper in one place in our suite. (Know how much that mattered to me? Zero. It'll get fixed after the season is over.) Also, Mackinac Island in general has poor TV cable service. This hotel is no exception, so keep that in mind.

More important is the location, the generous room size, the sparkling cleanliness, and the wonderful staff of this hotel.

Forget the Grand - this is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Go for a suite with a parlor that overlooks the harbor. The water is beautiful, and the people watc...

Stayed there two nights. Recent renovations very well done. Is on Main Street but very well sound proofed. Service and staff very good, and quality of furnishings very good. Location is excellent as near boat docks. Resturants very close

Room Tip: The upper floors offer harbor views which are very good

Everything about the Mainstreet Inn was great. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The fudge samples on the bed in the evening made the place even better. I would definitely stay there again.

We only stayed for one night, as we weren't sure if we would stay on the Island for more than one night. When we decided to stay another night, alas, the hotel was full. Only disappointment was no breakfast room (they refer you to the Chuck Wagon greasy spoon down the road) or pool, but other than that, it was a clean, charming and well-appointed hotel. Lots of nice little touches that encourage sustainability. Would stay again.

Everything was wonderful for our stay, including the benefit of holding our luggage after check-in so we could continue enjoying the island until early evening! BUT, if you need internet to conduct business or keep the kids happy, DON'T STAY here! The connection was difficult, dropped regularly and was impossibly slow. We all gave up after 30 minutes of fix it solutions.

When planning our summer vacation to Mackinac Island, we had a few hotels/inns in mind that we were considering staying at. After checking trip advisor, we were surprised by some of the negative reviews that those other hotels received. We decided to trust trip advisor and stay in the #1 rated hotel on Mackinac Island, The Main Street Inn and Suites. This Inn did not disappoint! There are only 18 rooms, so it is important to book early in the year. We loved that this Inn offered all of the modern amenities that we were looking for (air conditioning, ceiling fans, elevator, wifi, television/dvr, etc), while still giving a nod to the days of yesterday. A few of the things that we especially loved were the INDOOR bicycle storage, in room fridge/microwave, and nightly turn down service that included a special treat from the store below.

We chose a room on the front of the Inn that had a balcony. We absolutely loved having the balcony. It was the perfect place to relax, take an afternoon nap, read a book, take in the view of the lake, or have evening drinks and watch the people go by on Main Street below. When it was time to go to bed, the room was a quiet oasis on the beautiful island. It was quiet and tranquil.

The Inn is located conveniently across the street from Shepler's Ferry, but dock porters are also available to help with any/all luggage you may have. Everyone that we met was more than willing to go out of their way to help with any request we may have had, no matter the size. We can not say enough good things about the Main Street Inn and Suites. We will certainly make a return visit!

Room Tip: We highly recommend getting a room on the front of the Inn with a balconly!

Our family stayed the last weekend in July for a conference on the Island. Great location as it is a very short walk to the hotel from the Shepler's Dock. We wound up in the 1 bedroom Jacuzzi Suite as it was the only room available at the time of booking. It was spacious and overlooked the main drag. Some complain of noise, but that was no problem for us. You wouldn't be able to hear the noise in the bedroom so I doubt it would affect sleeping.
The room had a jacuzzi tub, large sitting room with microwave, refrigerator, wet bar, large TV and comfortable couch and chairs. The two beds were very comfortable.
We received a 15% off coupon for JoAnn's fudge on arrival and a free 1/2 pound at departure. Same fudge sample left each night with the turn down service.
You can store your bike in the basement
I highly recommend and hopefully be able to stay here again next year.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are great for people watching. Highly recommend.
