“Good fresh food!”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Four thick slices of fresh roasted turkey made for a hearty sandwich. The salmon wrap was delicious. Everything is made to order, fresh. No problem with additions / substitutions. The place was empty when we visited, but I can imagine that the "made to order" could slow things down on a busy day.

“Typical Mackinac Island Dining Experience (Bad)”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Most of the restaurants on the Island don't care about food quality or service. This place is no exception. Our party of four dined here on May 20, 2013. Three out of four orders were served with production errors. As an example, I ordered the "Tuna Melt". The menu said it came with sliced tomatoes. I asked that onions be added as well. The sandwich was cooked not under a broiler, but on a flattop grill much as one might cook a burger or grilled cheese sandwich. While the bread was slightly toasted, the tuna filling was nearly at freezing temperature and the processed cheese slices were completely unmelted. Did we say tune MELT? Ha Ha. We have your money. We don't care. Not to mention that the requested onions and the menu-promised tomato slices were also absent. It took not one but two returns to get the missing vegetables added. The cheese never was really melted. This place has prices high enough to warrant table service but no -- you place your order at a cafeteria style counter and grab free for all at seating at the un-bussed and un-wiped tables in the lower or upper level dining areas. Run, do not walk, away from this typical ripoff joint. Head for one of the old standbys (e.g. Sea Biscut, Pink Pony, Village Inn, Horns, Goodfellows, or a few others) with table service and better attention to detail and food preparation. You may spend slightly more but you will get more than your money's worth for the incremental expenditure. Oddly enough, this place may (I'm not totally sure) be owned by the same people who own the Lakeview Hotel and Goodfellows but it sure doesn't measure up. It is just a typical run-of-the-mill Mackinac Island tourist ripoff joint. The restaurant's alleged website "www.21speedgrill.com" appears to have been stillborn (404 as of my review and also a week or two ago). Try looking for the restaurant on the hotel's website: http://www.bicyclestreetinn.com/shoppes. Then again, why bother?

“Good food - great view!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

We stayed in the hotel that this restaurant is located in - the Bicycle Street Inn & Suites. Not only is the hotel wonderful but the restaurant is also very new, clean and well run. We ate the breakfast here and also got a good look at the menu for lunch and dinner. We were here preseason and the restaurant was not open the day we arrived but was open for breakfast the next day. My husband had a made to order omelet and he really enjoyed it. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the main street of the island. There are two floors of seating and it was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and we will definitely be eating here next time we visit the island. I cannot say if it has delivery, I believe it is open until 8 or 9 pm - like I said we were here preseason - what we were able to experience of this restaurant was very good.
