I hate to be the lone dissenter, but after staying for 2 nights I was not impressed. The room (I had a balcony room overlooking the water) was not spacious. The beds were comfortable, but the chair and couch were not. In the seating area was a couch and coffee table which is totally lacking if you actually want to have a conversation. Definitely needed at least one additional chair. The bathroom was huge, however there was not even enough room in the corner of the tub to put a bottle of shampoo. No place to hang towels. No turndown service, no fudge on the pillow. We used the coffee the first day and it was never refilled. The color scheme was depressing and drab. The lower level shops are very nice and the continental breakfast OK, however when they open and close the "fencing" around the shops in the morning and at night, the noise is pretty bad when you're on the 2nd floor. I thought I would give this a try since it is new, but next year, I'll be back at The Main Street Inn.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you found your rooms "not spacious", and the color scheme "depressing and drab". The room type you had is available in three sizes only. The smallest is 507 sq ft, the next size up is 593 sq ft, and the largest is 665 sq ft. All water suites include a walk-out balcony which adds approximately 50-70 more sq ft of room. Our accommodations are among the most generously sized units available on the island and will sleep up to 6 persons comfortably. Our room colors are a palette of bright, aqua blue draperies and bed skirting, white comforters, and rich olive green, gold, and blue duvet covers, neutral wall colors and coordinated carpeting that complements our bedding collection. The central skylit atrium brightens the guest floor hallways on our upper levels with the blue sky above, and even on cloudy days will highlight our deep blue hallway carpeting with tapestry like charcoal overlay pattern, mahogany wainscoting, and iron balcony railing with mahogany trim. As a brand new construction hotel, we used state of the art sound suppression systems between rooms, floors, and ceilings to keep guest rooms quiet and private. Our heating and air conditioning units are virtually silent. Some guests like to hear the clip clop of horses going by on Main Street, while others prefer peace and quiet. With our sliding screen doors leading out to our balconies, guests have an option of immersing themselves in the sounds of island activity, or almost complete silence by keeping the thick glass paneled doors shut. Yes it's true that when the Main Level shops open at 9 am and close at 9 pm, the sound of the shopkeepers' mesh steel security curtains can be heard in the courtyard and may be discernible in the balcony above. We were not aware that this brief, twice daily occurrence was considered "pretty bad", although we acknowledge it is not something one would anticipate hearing, since our first floor retail setting is so unique. We will definitely review that and thank you for pointing that out. We are sorry to hear our housekeeping staff failed to refill your Wolfgang Puck coffee the next morning, perhaps you had a do not disturb door hanger when they came by and missed you? In any case, our guests should feel free to ask our very friendly staff for refill packets of this delicious premium coffee anytime of the day or night. We will accommodate any request to the best of our ability, including adding an additional chair to your room if needed. We do hope you try us again, we look forward to serving you with the greatest possible cheer.

Sincerely,
Bicycle Street Inn & Suites

We stayed there this past weekend...Friday - Sunday for the beginning of the LIlac Festival...our room was amazing..the staff was amazing! We feel that they need to provide pillows that are not like trying to sleep on huge fluffed pillows..it just isn't comfortable or natural....actually? we ued our bath towels as pillows...I think there should be an choice for normal pillows...it might sound trivial...but when you are paying upward for $250 a night....good pillows and well a good nights sleep are a must! Staff was amazing and did everything they could to help! will definitely stay again..but hey...i'm bringing my own pillows!..oh and they use Philosophy products...ah-mazing!

This NEW and BEAUTIFUL hotel is THE place to stay on Mackinac Island! My husband and I booked a room at this new hotel and have discovered our new favorite place to stay while visiting the island. The staff at Shepler's Ferry handled all our luggage as soon as we parked our car at their dock until it was delivered to our room at the hotel. If you wish to handle your own luggage and ride Shepler's Ferry you only have to cross the street to reach the hotel! This hotel is perfectly located for easy access to everything on the island. As for the hotel itself - the lobby has a fudge/ice cream shop (delicious!), a Native American art store (reasonably priced and beautiful items), a restaurant and a few other stores with a spa to be opening soon. Everything is new, beautiful and first class. There are three floors with an elevator. The rooms are HUGE with plenty of space for everything. The beds are WONDERFUL with pillows that are out of this world! From the decks of the rooms you have a beautiful view of the island and surrounding area. The breakfast was a very nice bonus to the hotel. It was advertised as continental which included several types of regular and specialty breads, cereal, yogurt, granola, coffee and juices, etc., however for only $5.00 more you can have a fresh made to order omelet! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel also has it's own bicycle rental shop just up the road. The location of this hotel is also a big plus. Everything is within easy walking distance - no trudging up to your hotel after a night out - just a stroll up the block and you are back to your roomy, air conditioned (heat if needed) room. The cooling/heating units are remote controlled and extremely easy to use. Our room had a fridge and microwave - I believe they all do. Overall - this place is new, beautiful, an exceptional value for what you receive, perfectly located, comfortable and extremely friendly (did I mention the owner herself helped to tag and stow our luggage after we checked out so we could remain on the island for several more hours until we took the ferry back?). We will definitely stay here again and recommend the Bicycle Street Inn & Suites to all of our friends!

We stayed here when it was just opened. Even with a few quirks that could be chalked up to just opening, this is clearly going to be a good hotel for visitors that want to attend events that may be hosted at the Grand, or just enjoy the Island.

The service was very good, including the bellman who got our bags to the ferry. (Be sure to tip the bellman as this is not a trivial task.)

A continental breakfast was included in the room rate, and it was served in quite a nice place. This is much better than the cramped breakfast rooms you often see.

I like the feeling of modern construction in this hotel. It is not very plush, and I would not consider it a "luxury" hotel. However, it is a very good hotel here.

Others my choose to stay at more quaint hotels...of which there are many here. Remember that you pay for location on this beautiful Island, so if you don't need or want to be right on the main street, you might prefer more far-away hotels that often cost less, and can have very restful views.

Room Tip: The rooms vary considerably in views, a few with wonderful bay views and others with different views...

My husband and I booked a room at this hotel, the newest addition to the island in (so I was told) over 30 years. Booking was simple. Arriving was seamless. When we got to the dock at Shepler's they had our names and tickets ready for us. Our bags were taken from our trunk. We got on the ferry. The hotel is across the street from the dock (literally!). The porter took our bags from the dock straight to our room, which was spectacular! When we entered I noticed a slight smell of fresh paint and new furniture. It was a GREAT smell, actually! I think we were to first ones to stay in this room, which was a deluxe suite. Beautifully appointed! My only complaint was the new pillows because they were TOO plush! And that's not really a complaint, is it? The staff was accommodating and friendly. The location couldn't be better. The weather changed hourly, it seemed, and we were always so close to our hotel we could change clothes or add/drop off a sweater throughout the day. I would highly recommend this latest addition to Mackinac Island!

Overall everything was great. We stayed in the Deluxe Atrium Suite on May 24, 25, 26 and 27. Just a few issues. The skylight in the bedroom was too bright so early in the morning, no place to hang a hand towel in the bathroom and no room for toiletries in the shower. The continental breakfast was advertised as "Deluxe" but was just basic, a little disappointing. The staff was very friendly. A comment was made to housekeeping about the skylight and when returning to our room that evening, it was covered. Thank you Bicycle Street Inn and Suites!
