“Nice, relaxing stay”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Hotel is situatied in a beautiful building, right on main street walking distance from the ferry. Was able to relax after a long bike race in the pool/hottub/sauna located in the center of the hotel. The atrium and lobby is meticulously maintained. Rooms are decent size and for $60 extra you can get a larger room. Beds are nice and room was very clean. Friendly people and the Goodfellas restaurant we had a fantastic steak dinner. Breakfast was included, but not very special.

Room Tip: Add $60 to get a bigger room.

We have been coming to Mackinac Island for over 15 years and have stayed at many of the inns and hotels on the island and this is our new favorite. First of all if you have children you can't beat the fact that the place has an indoor pool and hot tub for relaxing and playing after all the walking and fun on the island or if you run into nasty weather. Secondly, I have to say that from the staff at the front desk to the housekeepers, we received superior customer service and attention. The beds are amazingly comfortable ! Shockingly our early bird children who normally wake up at 6 every morning had to be pulled out of bed each morning at 9. The beds are plush and not too soft nor too firm. The housekeepers kept our rooms (we had two) spotless as well as they kept the common areas pristine as well. I do recommend getting a lake view room. It is most certainly well worth the additional charge. The only real eye soar in the rooms might be the box heater/Ac unit ( time for new ones... they are ugly and a bit loud) Other than that this hotel is wonderful. Perfect location on main street located across from the Star line and Shepler's ferry, and one block or so from Arnold Ferry. The continental breakfast included in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel is average but sufficient to get your day started on the island( frozen waffles, toast, cereal, English muffins, bananas, apples, oranges, and juice. ( But do save your appetite for the absolute best burger located at the Chuckwagon ) Great porch to relax on at the hotel as well. You won't go wrong staying here !

Room Tip: Don't choose any room located above the Goodfellows b... as on the weekends it gets loud and you...

We had to have maintenance to our room 4 times in a 2 night stay!
The people next door where up all night and very loud - hotel staff told us there was nothing they could do.

The free "breakfast" is toast, cereal and juice. You can "buy" an omlete made to order for $5 and they won't even make it until you give them the money.

The shower is small and the sink area is in the room and very small as well.

Room Tip: Get the top room they offer

This is the kind of vacation island I would take my family or friends to that enjoy a little more wholesome time. Outdoor events, horseback riding etc. The employees at most every business we went to were nice and helpful. I loved riding the tandem bike around the island and then the horseback ride was a lot of fun also. The golfing is in such a pretty setting. Although we chose to stay at Lakevjew, I would suggest touring the Grand Hotel just to see how majestic it is.
A bit different venue than the typical cruise and beach scene, but I would absolutely go back and stay at the Lakeview Hotel again. And about the island fudge....Yes it is that good!

My mom and I stayed here for 1 night this summer. The lobby, location and front porch are beautiful. We had a room on the top floor that was very big but had no windows and a wall unit air conditioner. The air conditioner cooled the room perfectly. The beds and linens were very comfortable. There was two entry doors to our room that both had electronic locks. The front door was a double glass door that faced the atrium. The pool was small and was always too busy to the point that we didn't use it. There were two other small porches besides the large front porch but not one on the top floor. Goodfellow's restaurant is attached to the hotel and is very good and well priced. Awesome salads and chicken wings. The hotel's website offers discount Sheplers tickets but the Star line is directly across the street. Definitely rent a bike and do the tour around the island. It is so beautiful we went Saturday and then Sunday morning. Once the sunsets front street is a ghost town but there are plenty of bars to have fun at.

It has been a long time since i have stayed at such a pleasant, well kept hotel. It has the only indoor pool on the island, which was very nice. Rooms were roomy and comfortable. Lobby and front porch were great places to sit just to relax. Help with our luggage after getting off the boat was a real plus. They bring it right to your room. I like how the hotel is located at the end of town rather then in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

Room Tip: Rooms above the restaurant/bar are noisier I was told. We stayed in room 344 and it was not loud.

I had read the reviews before reserving. We were taking my 85 yr old Mom on vacation. Due to the possibility of canceling and Lake View would cancel, with no fee, up until time we arrived. It is located so close to the dock and they had our luggage brought to our room. This was appealing. I want to tell you that at Shepler they made sure our luggage was tagged for pick-up and gave us a discount. We arrived at Lake View and were greeted and pre registered as our rooms were not ready. When rooms ready we were very pleased with good amenities and a very comfortable bed. There was a unit that sat in the room to cool and heat as needed.
I gathered after awhile that they booked large groups and maybe that is why the continental breakfast was so bad. I am not usually one to say this, but the juice was a "drink" and the donuts the cheapest, cereal, yogurt and no fruit. . So if you stay for there location, pool and rooms, GO OUT TO BREAKFAST. Really. They really should be ashamed of what they serve. The evening out on there beautiful porch was wonderful. Also, if you need handicapp accessable, it only means there are bars to help at toilet and shower. The hotel does not have ramps.

I'm sorry that the ramps were not shown to this guest, but we do have two handicap ramps one on the hotel side, and one on the restaurant side.

The breakfast is provided by Goodfellows Restaurant, and may have been reduced while this guest stayed do to low occupancy.
