“It was a beautiful stay at the Cottage Inn!”
Reviewed September 6, 2009

The night we arrived it was cold, windy and rainy but walking up Market Street to the warm and inviting lights of The Cottage Inn made the wild ride across the straits worth it!
Marge and Rich greeted us with warm smiles and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and well kept. My husband had forgotten some essentials and they instantly provided us with what he needed. We have been to other B&B's and this was by far the best breakfast we have had. The egg souffle was superb, as were the coffee cakes and breads. Fresh fruit, yogurt and juice topped it off. Rich and Marge are excellent resources for the history of the island. Be sure and look for Rich's guide to free attractions on the island. We would definitely stay at The Cottage Inn again!

We stayed for two nights in the Lighthouse room and had a lovely and comfortable time. The management went out of its way to ensure there were enough beds for us and our two boys (8 and 11). Cottage Inn is quaint and pretty, the location is perfect, the afternoon snacks are yummy, and everything was clean. Our only suggestion would be to be sure and put the street address (rather than the P.O. box) on the confirmation materials; we had nothing to tell us where on Market Street it was when we arrived, and unfortunately the ferry porter gave us the wrong directions so we wandered a bit before finding it. Still, it was worth the detour and we would recommend this place with no hesitation to anyone seeking a B&B on Mackinac Island, including families with young children.

We stayed at the Cottage Inn for one night last week, and it was fabulous! I primarily dealt with Rich, and from the moment I called to inquire and make reservations until the time we checked out, he was extremely pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable, without overdoing it. Our room, the Lighthouse Tower, was lovely, with a super-comfy bed, excellent sheets and pillows, lots of natural light, and plenty of space for the two of us. I had told Rich that we were celebrating our anniversary, and when we returned to our room from a bike ride, there was a little gift waiting for us. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, homemade French Toast bake and Raspberry Crumb Coffee Cake, with bagels, fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, juices, hard-boiled eggs, etc. The location is perfect; very close to the ferries and bike rental shops, but removed from all the hustle and bustle. Our room was very quiet; we never heard any other guests that night or in the morning. My husband and I both agree that when we return to Mackinac, we will definitely stay at the Cottage Inn again.

I just got back from Mackinac, spending three nights at the Cottage Inn. The room was just a touch small, but overall, the experience was exceptional. The location is on Market Street---one street north of the much more chaotic and noisy Main street, so there is much much less foot/hoof traffic--i.e. the perfect location. Every afternoon, the innkeepers would put out fudge and carmel corn for their guests---a very nice touch. I would recommend this location to anyone/everone.

This is by far the best B&B on the island! Very clean, great location (very close to it all, but not on the main street so you do not have the noise). The innkeepers, Rich and Marge were so nice and helped out with reservations, etc. You can tell they truly love the island and their job! The B&B was so clean and breakfast was great! We will stay here again!!!

My husband and I took our 11 year old grandson to Mackinac Island this week. We stayed at the Cottage Inn because of the great reviews in Trip Advisor. We were also looking for a B&B with a suite so our grandson could have a space of his own. It is unusual to find a B&B that accommodates children, the Cottage Inn does. We were warmly welcomed by Rich and Marge. Our suite was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was so good I requested the egg recipe from Marge. If we ever go back to Mackinac Island, (which I hope we do), we will go back to the Cottage Inn.

The Cottage Inn is a lovely, off-the-street B&B. Our room was clean with many amneties, but sometimes not cleaned before 4:00. Our first night was a stay in the handicapped room and then a move to the Sail-Away room. For the price we paid, we were expecting a breakfast above continental style, the only addition being an egg quiche and fresh bread or muffins. (very tasty). Afternoon snack was carmel corn, peanut brittle or fudge (small squares) that can be sampled at any of the downtown shops. Would have preferred a non-sweetend snack, perhaps cheese and crackers to go with the ice and cork screw that was supplied for the wine, which was not able to be provided because of Island rules. The morning dining area was very small. Our table was up to the registry desk. I would recommend this B&B but not if you have stayed in other B&B's that provide more for the money and are larger.
