This is a hard review to write because we love the place And the folks the run it we don't want others to find out about it.
We have never stayed at a better run, maintained and decorated B&B. The location is a block from a busy Main Street -- just enough to be quiet and at the same time easy to access to shops and restaurants.
We will be back.

This is the sweetest place to stay. Very personal quite, feels like home. Rich and Marge are so nice and informative. Never stayed on the island before. We went for our anniversary and gift from my boss. This is the best home away from home I've ever stayed at. Will make this a yearly thing to do. We stayed in the bicycle room. So charming and clean. The location of the Inn is perfect. Just a short walk from the ferry. Can't wait for our next visit!!

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are so sweet.

To fully appreciate the splendor of Mackinac, one must stay on the island. My wife and I visited the island for a long weekend last year, but stayed in Mackinaw City and took the ferry each day. We decided to make the trip again this year, but his time we stayed at the Cottage Inn, and are we ever glad we did! Rich and Marge are such wonderful wholesome people. They are quick to offer well-educated guidance from their first-hand experience on the island. We stayed in the Father Marquette room. Although the room (like every other room of this wonderful inn) was very nicely decorated and very clean, the bed left something to be desired. It was a double (or 'full') sized bed which is understandable given the limited space in the rooms, but at 6' 1", it left me feeling a bit cramped. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay at the inn and would highly recommend it to others.

My wife and I stayed at this B&B for three nights from May 31 - June 2. Food each morning was good and included an egg dish - breakfast was always morethan enough. The fudge and caramel corn each afternoon was a nice touch. The weather was cool, but visiting from the South, that was exactly what we wanted. We definitely recommend this location and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden Balcony Room which had a great view of the Fort.

We arrived by our own private airplane on Mackinac Island for three wonderful days and nights at the Cottage Inn in May. This was to be our third time staying with Rich and Marge at the Cottage Inn and it truly was marvelous. As we flew around the island before landing at the airport I could see the Cottage Inn sitting in is prime spot on Market Street. One street up from the action of the ferries, bike rentals, coffee shops, stores and restaurants but quiet enough to enjoy a glass of wine on the front porch with fellow travelers who were staying at the Cottage Inn. Obviously we are hooked by the beauty and comfort of the inn, the quality of the service from Rich and Marge and Carmen their chamber maid/housekeeper because this was to be our third time on the island and our third time staying with them at the inn. The inn is beautiful and comfortable and impeccably clean. Things are repaired and replaced as necessary so it always feels brand new but comfortable. The quality of the beds, the pillows, the shower heads, the sheets, the floor rugs, the TV's, even the breakfast dishes and cutlery, it's all top notch! Mackinac Island is a very special place in your heart and staying at the Cottage Inn is part of the marvel. You have to go there and experience them both to see what I mean. The Cottage Inn is so clean and comfortable. No matter how big or small your room is, they are clean, comfortable and inviting. Each guest room is very unique. It's just the best and most modern B& B on the island. It is great. Coffee, decaf and hot water are always available, pop corn to make in the evening with lots of movies to chose from in the baskets and the great delicious breakfasts in the morning...what's not to get excited about. (For those with sweet teeth you will enjoy the afternoon treats of fudge, candy and peanut brittle in the front parlour).
Carmen thoroughly cleans your room each day but it seems like no one has entered your room. She does an amazing job and they are fortunate to have her as part of their team. Every day the new towels and top quality toiletries from a local island spa that she puts in your room are wonderful. One thing I realized once again at the inn during our stay is how much fun it is to spend time with the other guests at breakfast and having wine on the porch before finding a great restaurant to dine in for supper. (you can buy nice wine at the local market on the main street) Let's face it, the Cottage Inn attracts great guests who want to be there and have fun no matter what the season.
Whether you enjoy walking/biking/running all around and all over the island, shopping in the stores, getting to know the history of the island and it's "regulars" like we do it's always comforting and relaxing to come back home to the Cottage Inn each evening when we are staying on the island. Rich and Marge are so helpful and "inn to it" as great innkeepers. The difference is in the details with them both and their dog Joe. What a fun couple to stay with. Always up for conversation and helpful hints about the island and "what to do" to get the most out or your stay. (Bob must be blessed) It truly was a marvelous visit on Mackinac Island at the Magnificent Cottage Inn in May. We hauled our luggage behind us for the exercise walking the road to the airport on the day of our departure. As we headed up into the sky I couldn't help but shed a few tears leaving the island. It's a magical place. When it gets in your heart it's there to stay. Our stay at the Cottage in was more marvelous than the last. We will return for sure. Thanks you two.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bridge Room on the third floor for the exercise walking up and down the stairs. The...

We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay at the Cottage Inn. Rich and Marge were helpful and very thoughtful. While planning our island excursions, Rich took a map of the island and pointed out places we would find interesting. Both Rich and Marge recommended restaurants we would like based on their personal experience. Of course, they also recommended an sunset stroll along the boardwalk as well. We were not disappointed!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Cottage Inn for our first time in May. We have stayed at a few other places on Mackinac Island in the past. Rich and Marge were so welcoming and so helpful. Our room, the Lilac Parlor, was by far the most comfortable room we have ever stayed in. The location of the Inn is absolutely perfect, it is away from the hustle and bustle of main street by one block. It was nice staying so close to town, yet not having to hear all of the noise from main street. We absolutely love Mackinac and everything about it! We will definitely be coming back to the Cottage Inn of Mackinac Island in the future. We actually just booked our stay for New Years at Cottage Inn!!!

Room Tip: Book ahead, this Inn fills quickly and is so worth it!!
