I made reservations 3 months ahead of time, were going to stay there mid Sept 2013. I got an e-mail the night before we were going to leave and they had a tour bus coming and we could not stay there and they booked us at the Lilac tree spa. I called the manager and pleaded with her cause I was bring my parents who are in there late 80's and Dad has a walker. The manager said we can not stay there and not to call back as she was very busy. We were driving from Canada and now staying at a place we no nothing about. The manager said we could take the horse carriage every morning for the breakfast and dinner. I told her my Dad has a walker and the Lilac tree hotel is in the downtown area and it is hard for him to climb up on the carriage. I called the manager again and pleaded to stay there, she told me do not call me back or I will cancel your stay at the lilac tree hotel. We had no choice but to stay there because we were leaving the next day. Nice of them to e-mail me the day before we were going to leave. As it turned out the food was terrible at the island house, we order ceaser salad, fish, chicken. The romaine lettice was soggy and a very light green, chicken was dry and fish tasted terrible. Now the breakfast looked good but most of the food they kept running out of and was cold. The Lilac tree spa was great very clean and the suites were large, so all in all I was now glad that they canceled our stay at the Island house and would never book there again. By the way the manager at the island house could care less that my Dad was in bad health and was so rude to me. So beware if you book at the island house and they have a large group coming, they will cancel your stay. I would like to know if this has happened to other people.
