A lovely hotel, nice views of the lake from the two front porches, and quiet. Not too much horse traffic keeps down the odor. This hotel was very clean. The main old house was charming and welcoming. The location was ideal, next to the Butterfly House. The hotel will hold your luggage all day after check out, you just need to give them a call 30 minutes before your ferry departure and they will deliver your luggage to the ferry. The free continental breakfast was very good, something for both of my children who can be rather picky. Overall a great stay!

The good: room was good sized, quiet, and spotless the staff was very friendly and efficient. Luggage transfer from the ferry was perfect.

The neutral: breakfast was ok. Sort of a carb loading experience. Good selection of fruit. Many varieties of bread. A little protein. Scrambled eggs one day and food service mini quiche (mostly crust) another day.

No a/c. This was not good for us visiting during an unusually hot week of August. Most of the time it probably isn't an issue. Bike racks are provided but they are not sheltered from the rain which was daily while we were there.

The not so good: Wifi signal was present in our room but "limited connectivity" much of the time. On advice of the front desk I used the lobby Wifi which was fine. We were there be be outdoors but I needed some internet access to stay in touch. Using the service in the lobby solved the problem but was inconvenient.

I might stay again but would probably try another place. I would rate the Harbourview a 3.5 .

My husband, 1 year old son, my father and I really enjoyed our 4 day stay in the middle of July. We decided to go to Mackinac last minute. We have been to the island before, but all of our usual hotels were full. It was the yacht race weekend and I think we got the last room on the island. Harbor View had the perfect room for us! It had a partitioned off second bedroom and 2 bathrooms. It was on the third floor and had a view of the harbor. The baby had plenty of room to play and we could move his pack and play to the smaller area so he would nap. The staff was happy and friendly and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is pretty, very clean, and has beautiful flowers. Harbour View does have the use of a pool at a sister hotel, but it is on the other side of the island. We went and enjoyed it, as it was warmer than normal, but it is a $25 cab ride each way.
In conclusion, the Harbour View was great and I would absolutely stay there again, especially in the third floor mini suite.

My stay here was amazing!!! Met at the docks by Austin who is extremely helpful with getting our luggage to the hotel and giving us advice on finding a quick lunch!! Once we arrived at the hotel we were met by a friendly front desk clerk named Tim who informed us we were upgraded to a suite!!! Which was a great surprise!! Austin brought our bags promptly to the room.. Later that evening went down to the front desk and spoke with Larry who gave us dinner reccomendations to the Yankee Rebel which was amazing.. Got back to the hotel later in the evening and realized i didn't have my camera with me.. Tim was able to locate it for me and was able to have it brought up to the hotel!!! While waiting Tim and Larry both live on the island year round were very happy to tell of us island life. The next morning we came down for breakfast and we were amazed at the setup.. For a continental style breakfast there sure put out some high quality breakfast items!! We rented bikes from Michelle who was so helpful at tellings us where to go and what to see.. even provided us a map. The service we received at the inn was better then you would receive at most 5 star resorts!! The staff is always smiling and always willing to help out and start a conversation with you!! We will definetly be back already made reservations for next year!!

The hotel is a couple blocks east of the main shopping area and was nice and quiet. We stayed in the B&B portion of the hotel and loved the front porch for people-watching. The room was nice and very well maintained. None of the rooms actually have a view of the water but we didn't see that as a problem. The breakfast was nothing special (bananas, yogurt, dry cereal and some rolls and coffee cake taken from the refrigerator). The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
