Just on our way back home with our two teenagers. We stayed in a two queen room in the guest house #3406. I actually prefer the location to be a bit set off from the main town area which can be noisy. Very clean and well kept. We did not have a balcony this time, but if you do they are shared and quite roomy. Grounds are gorgeous and staff friendly. Yummy breakfasts too.

Just returned from our Mackinac Island vacation, stayed @ Harbour View Inn, room 3106 in the Guest House. I purchased a Groupon, so the room was a steal at $143.00 pus tax. Inn is a short 5 min bike ride from the Arnold ferry doc & main street and they do have luggage porters to transport bags from pier to property for a couple dollar tip. My room was beautifully decorated and very large for two adults and two kids. Spotless is an understatement, it was immaculate. Room was on ground level with patio that had a nice planter with two wood rocking chairs outside to relax and enjoy the peace & quiet. The staff and housekeeping were all very pleasant and made us feel right at home. Had to call front desk for housekeeping due to malfunctioning toilet, they were there in 5 min to fix. It was also necessary to make another call about 10:30p due to room above us sounded as if someone was doing gymnastics, they took care of the problem within minutes again. Continental breakfast was excellent and included homemade oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereals, muffins, danish & variety of juice & coffee, great start our day. Many options for storing your bikes and they also rent, for MUCH LESS than the other bike company's near the boat docks. I loved this place and plan to return in the future.

We decided to stay on the Island for the weekend for our 25th anniversary. Harbour View is a beautiful place to stay.. We stayed in the Main House. There were a few problems though....
The door to our balcony was stiff.. We had to yank it on quite hard to get it to open.
Our balcony did not have a roof over it, so since it rained quite a bit on Friday we couldn't use it unless we wanted to get wet.
The a/c in the room did not work.. it was like having a fan on in a hot room. We would walk in after being gone all day with the a/c on, and it was warmer in the room than it was outside.
And for the price of the stay you would think you would get more than fruit, breads, hard boiled eggs, dry cereal and oatmeal for breakfast.
They do need more space for parking your own bikes.

The employees at the hotel were WONDERFUL. They were waiting at the boat when we arrived to take our luggage. And when we were ready to leave we only had to call them a bit ahead of time and they met us down at the docks again.

The history and the beautiful house was well worth it.. and even though there were some short comings in our room.. We would have no problem staying there again.

Everything is very nice, but we could really hear the neighbors and they weren't being loud. We really could hear private things we didn't need to hear... Like when the neighbors were peeing....otherwise very nice and comfortable.I feel bad giving it a not so great review but I would want to know...

Wonderful place to stay on the Island! About a 5 minute walk to downtown, but quiet enough that the noise doesn't bother you. We slept with our windows open and weren't bothered at all. We stayed in the B&B that has just been remodeled, the room was on the smaller side but very clean and bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again!!!

Stayed here for 1 night and found it to be a charming hotel, but a bit more removed from the downtown area than I expected. We reserved a suite - which for the most part was very nice - but was located in the Guest House which is up a very steep hill and overlooked the courtyard. For the price of $300+ for the night, I was a bit shocked at how remote the building we were in felt. We were there to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday and I could tell she was disappointed with the view and the climb to get to the room. (I did go to the front desk to request a switch to a room with a view, but was told there were none available.)

Although the room was nice (comfy beds, nice bathroom, tastefully decorated), our balcony was a shared balcony by everyone on the 2nd floor- therefore, we didn't use it at all. The continental breakfast was very nice with a good assortment of breads, fruit, bagels, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc.

Overall, the Harbour View Inn is a nice, private inn nestled back on Main Street. I would definitely reserve a room with a view if i were to stay again for the price we paid.

This was our first time staying overnight on the actual island (although I have been to Mackinac Island nearly every year since I was born). There was an AMAZING deal for this hotel and we jumped at the chance to stay for 2 nights. We were already going to be in the Upper Penninsula and decided to change our plans. We are so glad we did. We were traveling with our 4 and 5 year old daughters so we were nervous about a B&B type feel with kids, but it is a family friendly place and everything was great!

There are several buildings on the property and we were in The Guest House on the top floor with a "peekaboo" view of the harbor (4th floor with an elevator and EXCELLENT air conditioning in room 3404). I was fine with the view of St. Anne's steeple, a partial roof and partial bay view. The room is like a hotel as another reviewer stated, but decorated like a B&B. The building location was quiet and although the place was full, we did not hear other guests.

The room was very, very spacious with 2 queen beds and a sitting area with a table. There was also plenty of room to store large pieces of luggage and it did not clutter the room or get in the way. The room was not a suite, but like a deluxe hotel room. I will say that more pillows would be nice (only 2 per bed) and the bed was NOT very comfortable. The room looks like it was recently remodeled with new carpet, wallpaper, repainted furniture, and plenty of wall outlets. The room smelled pleasant and did not feel stuffy. The temps were in the 90's and we were nice and cold in our room!

The hotel staff was friendly. The breakfast was AMAZING for a free breakfast. They had fresh fruit, cereal choices, breads, bagels, and other pastries plus yogurt, granola, traditional "real" oatmeal (cooked in a giant crockpot), hard-boiled eggs, a varietly of juices, coffees, tea and milk. It was a lovely set up. We were thankful to have such a wide selection especially with the kids in tow. Breakfast was served from 7:30-9:30 and we were there each morning at about 9:20. There was plently of food left and some people stayed and ate until about 10:00.

The property is picturesque. There is no hotel restaurant or pool, but we were fine with that. It is far enough out of town to be peaceful, but close enough to walk everywhere. It is about 2 blocks down from the Fort on Main Street and a block from the Yacht Club. I gave it a 4 because of the hard beds and lack of extra pillows - However, I never asked for more pillows and maybe they would have brought some if I had asked. Consequently, I did ask for more towels and they kindly brought enough for a family of 10!

Oh, they have porters that take your luggage from the dock to the hotel and the hotel to the dock. It was nice to have our luggage already at the hotel by the time we walked there (we checked in early around 12:30 because our room was already ready and that was nice). We did take a horse taxi on our way out and felt is was reasonable for the 4 of us plus our luggage for around $10-$12 dollars total. If you are on the fence about this place I would say to just do it.

Room Tip: The Guest House is air conditioned and has an elevator. It is in the back and is quiet with less no...

We are glad to hear that we were your lodging choice for your first overnight on the island. Many people have your same concerns about their small children and a B&B type location. We welcome families, as you experienced.
