Let me first say the main house you see in the pictures is beautiful in person with the lilacs blooming mid-June. I knew there were other buildings, but didn't expect the "harbor view rooms" to be the in the B&B next door.

We had tons of stairs to climb to get to room 4301. The main window looking out over the harbor had a nasty looking pole that was part of an old porch not in use anymore. This made for lots of dead bugs right at the screen by that pole. The view was looking out over the road, over other houses and then the water on the other side. The room itself was clean and very simple: bed, end tables, dresser with flat screen tv, closet, and a surprisingly large bathroom with stand up only shower. The wall slants from the roof pitch, so watch your head at the end of the bed. The bathroom had double windows looking out over the main house's lawn and flowers. Bike parking in back of B&B, then walk to ramp to front door. The back door is a residence and is not marked to stay out (until you get to the front porch.) We brought our own bikes for $8 each round trip on the ferry.

Continental breakfast was simple: cereal, fruit, yogurt, slices of pastries and breads, coffee, hard boiled eggs.

We could not find the tv remote when we arrived, so the front desk got a call. A bit of time had passed and no remote showed up, so a second call reveiled the guy had forgot. A housekeeper came up and found an empty room with a remote to use in ours. She said she had worked there 3 years and had never been on that floor. The people at the front desk were very nice and helped us with a few questions we had about town.

We stayed 2 nights during the 10 day Lilac Festival and got lucky that the Taste of Mackinac was being held on the front lawn of the Harbor View Inn! The fancy restaurants on the island had tastings of food, desserts, wine and beer for $15 a person. We didn't know the tickets sold out online in advance, so we talked with the staff at the Inn and they got us in for free! They said next year they will save tickets just for the Inn's guests. A big thank you to Mary from the tourism board for her help with getting us in the event!!

Room Tip: Ask for room 4302 not 4301, but the rooms are over $200 each night for the view. Some rooms have no...

My husband and I stayed in the Carriage House for 3 nights in June. It was a very clean, nice room. Nothing fancy but great for us. We were there for the biking & hiking which was great! The staff is very pleasant, they had a nice breakfast every morning and the location is perfect. Only a 5 minute walk to the main street area, where most of the restaurants, bars, and shopping are located. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel & grounds far exceeded our expectations. It was just far enough from town to be peaceful yet close enough to easily walk to most everything. The breakfast they offered was enjoyable with their outdoor seating which had heaters for the chilly mornings. Housekeeping was the best I've ever had at a hotel, always done early & the room spotless. At lunchtime they had a bbq stand out front, which was perfect as we went out for a fish dinner every night. We stayed 3 nights but wish it were longer, can't wait to return.

What a wonderful place to spend the night. The staff was excellent, in particular the young man who shuttled our luggage to and from the ferry. The room was clean and spacious. In fact the entire property was squeaky clean. The breakfast was very good....nice selection.

We (2 Seniors - One Former Cruise Director/Educator/ & One Chef) Have Just Returned From Our 5-Day Stay At The HARBOUR VIEW INN During The Island's LILAC FESTIVAL, Where Our Inn Hosted The Island's Pre-Emminent "27th Annual Taste of Mackinac" (Culinary Picnic Representing The Island's Gourmet Chefs), On It's Beautifully Manicured Lawn & Surrounding Gardens. This SOLD OUT Event of 300 Was Expertly Orchestrated By HVI Staff, Area Breweries, Wineries, Irish Dancers, & The Island's Own Grammy Award Winning Pianist.,

ALL OF THE LILACS WERE IN FULL BLOOM
& THE SPRING WEATHER WAS PERFECT!

MANAGER MICHELLE Was Always Extremely Personable & Knowledgeable.
KUDOS To The Entire Staff, Including Our LUGGAGE PORTER AUSTIN, Who Greeted Us Enthusiastically At The Dock,To Transport Our Luggage To Our Inn (A Short/Level 10-Minute Paved Walk) or 5-Minute Horse Drawn Taxi Ride ($4.75 To Almost Anywhere) Directly To The Lobby Door of The Inn! (Taxis To Various Parts of Town/Restaurants/Shops/Hotels Are Easily Obtained With Phone Calls By The Front Desk Staff.)

By Now Most of You Are Aware That There Are No Motorized Vehicles Allowed On The Island (Except For 1-Ambulance & 1-Fire Engine) So The Relaxing Clip-Clop of The Beautiful Horses Blend With The Gracious Homes/Hotels/ & B& Bs & Landscaping.

Our Room Was A Spacious Garden View Room Overlooking The Beautiful Courtyard Garden With Gazebo & Winding Pathway. The Daily Continental Buffet (7:30 -9:30 AM) Was Above Average.

I LOVED Just Sitting On The Front Porch Veranda & Watching The World Go By While My Partner Bicycled Around The Island (8-Miles) On The Paved Pathway (Bikes Were $5 From The Inn), & Walking Into Town For Shopping (Just A 10-Minute Walk Away).

I Found That The HARBOUR VIEW INN Was The Best. Far Enough Away From Downtown To Avoid It's Hustle-Bustle, Yet Close Enough To Walk To & Enjoy It's Peaceful Atmosphere. Mackinac Island Has A Small Community Feel (400 Year-Round Residents) Swelling To Many Times Larger By Mid-Summer. I Even Enjoyed A Chance Meeting While Conversing With The Mayor & Her 94-Year Old Mother On A Taxi Ride

By Comparison, The Landmark Grand Hotel Was Exhorbitantly Expensive,
Too Pretentious, Too Huge, & Too Loud & Too Crowded For Our Taste.

There Are Some Good "RT Ferry, Island Tour + Grand Hotel, Historic Fort, & House Museum Admissions" Package Deals Available From The 3-Ferry Co. Websites - We Were Very Pleased With ARNOLD LINES Whose Dock Is The Closest To The HARBOUR VIEW INN.

AMAZING & IMPRESSIVE How Everything Works Like A Well-Oiled Machine
On This Motorless Island!

Room Tip: LOVED Our Newly-Renovated Garden View Room : ) : )!!

We very recently stayed at the Harbour View Inn a short way up Main Street with a beautiful view of the harbor. The Lilac festival was in full swing on the Island and in particular on the beautiful grounds of Harbour View with delicious foods from chefs all over town plus wine, beer and soft drinks. You couldn't go away hungry.
Irish step dancers added to the gaiety as well as singers. Not to mention the wonderful fragrance of lilacs everywhere.
We had a lovely room and the meals were very well planned and delicious. I would add, we were part of a Road Scholar and stayed from Sunday until Friday!

We had a wonderful trip to Mackinac Island with a great stay at the Harbour View Inn. this property has 3 buildings. all old and historical. We stayed at the B & B. the rooms are quaint and nicely decorated. we lucked out and had a view of the Harbor, which was fantastic. there is a wonderful large porch for people watching or reading. if it is nice you can bring your breakfast out there as well. Breakfast is provided and is much nicer than a typical continental breakfast. there were the typical sweet breads, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs, as well as coffee and juices. staff was friendly. you should know that as these building are old I believ that 2 of the 3 do not have an elevator, so plan appropriately if you have health issues.

Mackinac Island is a great quaint place with no motorized vehicles, you really feel you are "away". would recommend eith bringing your bike or renting a bike to explore the island. There is a lot of history and scenic views. Also Mackinac Island typically includes a lot of walking so bring good walking shoes.
