We stayed in a waterfront suite on the third floor. the sitting room was very nice. the cover was nice when it rained. the balcony was over the hot tub, far enough up we were not disturbed by noise. a great breakfast was included. the waterfront bar was friendly. service at the restaurant was far below what we expected. the sailboats on the bedspreads were dated, but fit the theme of the island. we chose this hotel because the rooms have air conditioning, we were glad we did.

Room Tip: definitely get a waterfront room to enjoy the sunset. the suite is large enough for a family

It's hard to say a hotel this expensive is a bargain, but in comparison with the Grand it's a screaming deal. Our room (416) was a large two-room suite with a very nice shared balcony overlooking the harbor. There were a couple of minor spots of wear and tear that perhaps should be spruced up, but overall the room was in good shape. The staff were top notch--young, friendly and competent. Everybody was eager to make us happy, even at the end of what must have been a tiring season for them. The food at the Pink Pony was quite good--and the service was quick and friendly. Breakfast was a bit of a problem as the hotel had busloads of people in and gave the waterfront dining room to them--so we went three doors down the street and ate pancakes at the pancake house. No view but food was decent. I would definitely stay at the Chippewa if we return to Mackinac.

Room Tip: High up and on the water side gives you a nice room with a great view. If a bit of street noise doe...

Great location - close enough to roll your bags from ferry right into the hotel! We stayed in smallest room but it is such a great location right on main street that it was not a negative at all. We are already planning on staying here on our next visit to Mackinac Island.

Room Tip: We chose the room with one double bed and one twin bed - it was fine. The bathroom sink is located...

Although we didn't stay at the hotel proper we did stop in to eat while spending the day on the Island, the food in the Pink Pony dining room was unbelievably delightful; Perch fingers and the Honey Apple Brie Flatbread were fantastic as was the service. We will definitely be going back.

Loved Mackinac and think the Chippewa was an ideal place to stay - the location is fantastic. We had a lovely suite over looking the harbour - just a shame we didn't make the most of it! Daughter had a street view queen room and found it to be noisy one evening. Loved the Pink Pony too, particularly the outdoor area. If I return to Mackinac, would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Harbour view is a must - street side can be noisy

We had a beautiful room #102 right on the harbor and steps from the hot tub - room was clean and spacious - staff was outstanding! Highly recommend this hotel for your island getaway. If you want to stay in the heart of main street there isn't a better spot. The Pink Pony bar and grill had wonderful breakfast - try to yogurt parfait with warm banana bread. Also a fun atmosphere at night with lively guitar player and great bar staff. The hot tub under the moon and stars right on the harbor made for a great late night swim with the kids. Parked our bikes right out front and grabbed great sandwiches from Doud's market across the street for our bike around the island picnic. You are at the base of the fort. Just all around a great hotel with wonderful location and friendly and helpful staff.

Nothing! This is the closest hotel to the Arnold ferry dock, but it didn't matter because our bags were promptly ported. The staff was personable and helpful at every juncture. The large room, 409, had a large seating area overlooking Main St. It was clean and well appointed. I slept well, awaking to the clop, clop of horse hooves. Had a good breakfast outdoors at the on premise Pink Pony patio. I'm ready to return just writing this note!
