“Well Worth It!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

This was one of the coolest things my wife and I did as a couple. Took “Shortie” on a ride around the west side of the island, and then through the interior (it was awesome with the fall colors). The horse needs to be steered somewhat when he’s trying to eat leaves, and if you want him to speed up just shake the reins a bit. It turned out to be around $100 or so, and it was well worth it. Ask for “Shortie”…very good horse!

“Drive your own carriage!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

For less than a regular horse-drawn carriage ride ($100/hr), you can have the fun of being your own driver (We paid $64/hr)! The horse knows the routes, so we had very little to do in guiding the horse. The stablemen gave great directions and instructions. A very enjoyable experience.

“Well worth the $”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had so much fun! We rented a buggy from Jack’s Livery. You cannot go around the entire island, however you go from the Livery to the snack shack to the interior of the Island, past the Grand and back to the Livery. The entire loop was about 1/1/2 hr and cost about $65.00, totally worth every penny. The staff is very competent; initially we had a high-spirited horse…so we went back to the Livery and traded for a perfectly mild mannered horse “Billy”. Staff tells you to steer the horse left or right, which is true, however horses know where the trail is and where to go. I have seen other reviews that dislike this, however we were then able to relax and enjoy the ride with no fears of getting lost. We highly recommend this tour.

“Great value for horse and buggy rentals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

This was one of our favorite things to do on the Island. We rented a horse and buggy for about 2 hours. The value was great and allowed us to see a great portion of the island. The staff was very friendly and helpful as was Rocky, the horse. Don't miss out on this while on the Island!

“Average at best”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

Expected a bit more from this restaurant since its owned by the Grand Hotel. Had lunch here on a rainy overcast day. Ordered tomato soup which was decent though not amazing. Grilled cheese tasted like average wheat bread and processed cheese. Seriously? I at least expected some tasty cheddar.

The patio seems like it would be nice on a warmer day. There was a fireplace inside but you really could only access it if you were one of 2 tables seated next to it.
