To start with, the ride to the restaurant is magical. Our ride coincided with sunset and we were the only ones on our buggy shuttle. The food was very good, wonderful kasespatzle and Austrian Steak soup. The creme brulee was just okay. I loved the interior design of this restaurant--very old school hunting lodge.

My wife and I recently ate at the Woods restaurant, and had a wonderful experience. The Woods has shuttle carriage that runs from Main Street, offering rides to the restaurant for $5.75 per person. The retaurant is a couple of miles from Main street, in a pretty, wooded location. You can also catch a carriage taxi for $1 more per person. So it cost us about $15 to get to the restaurant, and a couple of bucks more to return because our timing was off for the shuttle. The staff will be happy to arrange for a carriage taxi if your timing is bad for the shuttle.

The meals were excellent: my wife had the chicken dish, and I had the beef goulash. We were both very happy with our choices. The staff was very attentive, and the service was very good. It was a cool, rainy night, and our table by the fireplace contributed to a very romantic evening. The piano player was excellent (tip the piano player!), and certainly contributed to the ambiance.

So, if you''re looking for a romantic evening and a very good meal, I heartily recommend The Woods. It's a bit expensive, with the transportation cost, but provides a memorable and delicious experience.

This place is one of my favorites to go to any time I go up to the Island. They have amazing food, on the overpriced side and all a la carte, however the environment and the shuttle ride up to it is so worth every penny. Plus they have an old fashioned bowling lane, super FUN!

The location and setting are beautiful - service was good, fairly attentive, but cold. The food was good but the beef was a bit tough and the lamb was not the right temp.

The Woods is part of the Grand Hotel restaurants, but open to anyone who wishes to dine there. The Tudor mansion tucked in the trees near the Inn at Stonecliff was beautiful. The menu was varied and each of our appetizers and entrees were delicious. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. The pianist provided delightful background music during our meal.

The ride in our horse-drawn carriage to and from the restaurant added to the charm of the evening!
