“Best Spot on the Island!”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Fort Holmes is probably the best spot on the island, and not everyone knows about it. It is the highest point on the island and the view is amazing. Its worth all the stairs!

“Must do but once is enough”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Great piece of history. It appears that funds are inplace to keep this place working and vidoes are great. For photographers...great place to see the whole city...But its one of those things that after you see it...you do not have to see it again.

“Breathtaking views and a secluded spot of history”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

It's quite a hike to get here, but it's really worth it! Not too many people are ever up there at any one time, so you'll basically have the feeling that the island is yours for a minute. It's really eerie to sit up on the lookout and imagine what it must have been like when the British forces overtook the island. Or when the American forces re-captured it (it was originally British, after all). Just kind of a cool piece of history to visit!

“Archaeology for sure”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

The fort itself is no longer standing, but one can tour the foundations and what's left of the battlements. The big deal here is the view...a 360 degree panorama of the Straits of Mackinac like nothing else you will see. Admission to this is fee and worth the walk or bike ride. Bring your camera!

“Great vista view.”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

It takes some steep walking or biking to get to. But if you can do it, its worth the walk or bike ride up to enjoy the view.
