We came in with a party of 20+ people for Sunday brunch, and the Pancake House accommodated us nicely. The food was fantastic and the price was just right. We ended up sitting in the Ryba's fudge shop connected to the Pancake House which meant that we were surrounded by the delicious smell of fudge the entire time. Great food, okay service, and overall very positive experience.

No matter if it's breakfast or lunch, if you are at the Pancake House on Mackinac Island get the Banana Bread French Toast! Amazing taste. Add the maple syrup and some powdered sugar and it is by far the best breakfast option on the island!

The grilled cheese is pretty good as well but GET THE BANANA BREAD FRENCH TOAST!

For our first breakfast on Mackinac Island, my husband and I chose the Pancake House based on reviews here. It fell far short of our expectations.
Our first impression was that it was a small but not cozy place, and the ugly gray tables didn't add anything to the decor.
The prices seemed a little high for basic breakfast fare, and the combo options were limited seemed a little small compared to other restaurants. For example, one combo had two eggs and either pancakes, French toast or Belgian waffle, but no meat. The other combo was the basic eggs, meat, hashbrowns and toast combo.
I had two scrabled eggs and a Belgian waffle. The eggs were standard and the waffle was crisp and light - pretty decent.
My husband had two eggs over easy and pancakes. He said the pancakes were just terrible, which is pretty pathetic when your entire business is built on the pancake. He added a side of bacon because this combo came with none. We were disappointed when we noted the next morning that his combo with bacon cost more than his entire meal at the Pink Pony and wasn't nearly as good as the Pink Pony.
While the food was mediocre, the service was downright lousy. There were three waitresses working that small space, which should have been enough, but we felt constantly overlooked. We waited an incredibly long time to get our food and were never checked on or told why. Meanwhile, couples who came in after us ordered before us, and couples who ordered after us got their food before us. When it came time to pay the bill, we waited a long time for the waitress to pick up our credit card. But couples who got their bill after us were paid (with credit cards) and out the door before our card was ever picked up.
If you want an okay breakfast, terrible service and a lingering feeling of having paid too much for what you got, then by all means, go to the Pancake House. But if you want excellent food, service, atmosphere and value, go to the Pink Pony just down the street.

I live on the island and find myself at the Pancake House for breakfast 3 days a week. The trick is getting there when there is not a wait and I will keep that a secret. I recommend the "Mac Muffin" a twist on the breakfast sandwich with an omelet in the middle. Very consistent and very good.
