The Cloghaun is clean and has unique antiques. There were no safety bars in the tub and a steep staircase up to the majority of the rooms. The Inn's location is close to town and ferry dock but on Market Street which is a 24 hour carriage route.
Having visited many b & b's, our expectations of the innkeeper were higher than we experienced. Upon arrival mid afternoon, we had to track down the innkeeper who never introduced himself.
No information about the area or home itself were offered. We had to ask specific questions. The innkeeper's interactions with us were minimal.
The food was good but breakfast was serve yourself and nothing going more remarkable than a hotel's continental breakfast. It was virtually the same both days. The innkeeper was not present to ask nor were there labels which might help those guests with food allergies. Coffee was first available at 7:15, but breakfast was 8 to 10 am which was somewhat late for daytime activities on the Island.
The second day, a new gentleman appeared during breakfast preparations and the meal, appeared to be an innkeeper, yet had no interaction with guests and texting on his phone.
Our room was comfortable but common areas were lacking. The library with the only tv was only available limited hours.
As we left breakfast the last morning, we asked the innkeeper where we should leave our key, which he answered but never inquired as to how we liked our stay.
