“Family nostaligic trip!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

We also got a scoopon deal to stay 2 nights, with a round of golf.

The golf was really great. It was a hot day, but the cool breezes from the beach and views made it a spectacular round. My wife had never played golf before in her life, but even she enjoyed the scenery and found the course great fun. There's even resident kangaroos and wildlife all around the place!

The rooms were ample. The whole complex looks very similar (I'm assuming) to when it was built in the 70's. It's decor and general "feel" of the rooms is as such. But when your not paying the world, you can't expect it.

For a trip to relax, have some beach, family & sports/activity time-it's a great place. It's quiet & you really don't have to leave the complex if you don't want to. The restaurant was actually highly impressive and the views there as the sun set were beautiful.

The staff service was brilliant as well.

Overall, a great place to stay. Budget type accomodation, but if your looking for "hilton" type hotels- your looking in the wrong place!

Definately recommend!! :)

Except for the carpet, this place is quite decent. The location is very pretty, the service was great, the grounds are nice, and the restaurant acceptable enough. The furniture is dated, but it's still in fine condition and perfectly serviceable, and the beds were OK.

Unfortunately, the carpet ruins it all. [At least where we stayed -- there seems to be three buildings that have guest rooms, we stayed at the middle one. While I can't comment on the other two, since one can't pick the building, I have to assume the worst.] You walk into the hallway -- not even to the rooms -- and you can feel the age and mold. And that is in an open space. Walking into the room, which is usually closed, and, well, I wouldn't walk barefoot.

For a one night stay (as we did between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island) it was acceptable. But for a long-term stay, especially if I wanted a relaxing resort experience, the carpet makes the room unpleasant enough that I would not find it acceptable.

For starters we my buddy booked for 4 of us in through a scoopon for 2 nights and a round of golf for our annual golf trip! Driving one and a half hours south of Adelaide was such a senic drive through the hills and great ocean views. we arrived just before we had to tee off, so straight to the pro shop and the chap behind the counter was more than happy to take care of us, by being extra polite and supplying us with complementary ice for our beers. The golf course was excellent and very picturesque, a little challenging but great fun. checked into our rooms that night after golf, they were not to flash, but still spacious and clean, you could tell they've just updated the TV's and carpet and chairs but still for the price we paid we couldn't complain, and our fairway view was sensational! The restaurant was set out and looked beautiful, until we got the menu and we were very disapointed, very tiny selection of meals. T-bone steak was not very good, but the oysters kilpatrick were to die for, we had them both nights! The waiting staff were excellent and very helpful and winelist was great with plenty of local wines to choose from. And John in the bar in the games room was absolutley awesome, really great guy, couldnt ask for a nicer guy, thumbs up for john! Then apon check out the front desk staff didnt say boo, didnt ask how our weekend was, didnt say thank you, didnt say have a safe trip or see you next time, nothing, I commented and said "thanks for a great weekend" and she replied "thats ok"
So apart from the older rooms, tiny menu and front desk staff, everything was excellent, great few days away and would recommend it to someone who hasn't been there, and would most likely return.

Room Tip: Fairway rooms were a treat :)

My partner and I purchased a "Scoopon" voucher which included 2 nights and 4 rounds of golf plus breakfast + more for $119. We didn't last 24 hours. We checked out the next morning. The room was very old, the quilt cover looked as thought it was 20 years old. There were hairs in the bathroom, stains on the carpet and couch, glasses and spoons not washed.
We stuck through through the first night as we like Yankalilla and Normanville and wanted to play Golf the next day. The golf course was good however we gave up as a result of having to wait 10 mins at each hole.
We requested an upgrade upon seeing our room however upon reviewing the 'better' rooms, we decided they were not worth the extra X amount.
The rooms were not up to standard and suit 'low-budget' accomodation standards.
However I must add that staff were very nice!
Wirrina needs to pick up its game, particularly since Lady Bay is so close and much better.

Room Tip: Have low expectations

My partner and i went for a relaxing weekend away but i left more stressed than i arrived.
-There was hair in my food
- My partner was scolded in the shower TWICE
- There wasnt enough hot water for me to shower
- There was empty beer bottles under our bed from the guests before us
- The spa and pool were freexing cold
- The sauna didnt work
- Our room was not made up so we had no fresh linen or glasses
- Our room had two single beds pushed together
- The heater had to be on for 24 hours to even warm the room
- The manager was rude and would not speak with us about our complaints

i would never go back and would advise others not to either

Been to Wirrina cove resort on a family holiday, taken an easter package.
An hour and half drive from Adelaide.
Nice place. Check in was good.
There was a swimming pool but was dirty and cold.
Spa was good
Great restaurant - buffet dinner. Good wine selection
Biggest attraction was the golf course. I like walking around the golf course
There was a small golf course for children and my five year old son tried his skills
Tried a bit of tennis but tennis court seems to be not looked after.
Room was good but needs a refurbishment.
Make sure to drive upto see mirina while you are there.
Good place for a couple of days
will go again
