Snyder's was once a great place to stay a night. When leaving on the Badger the next morning. It's only advantage is being across the street from Lake Michigan. The lobby smelled very musty and it went down hill from there. Our room was the size of a large closet and it not only smelled musty it was dirty. The TV was the size of a large computer screen. No parking any where near your door. Checked out went down the road found a nice place for less money. The Viking Arms.

We stayed in room 135, the only rustic log cabin designed room in the hotel. It was on the first floor right by the door to the building so it was a little noisy. While it was cute, the room was dark because of the log walls, and we couldn’t open the drapes due to a lack of privacy. They really need to take the rocking chair out of the room as it blocks the air conditioner. The shower is a small stand-up shower, no bathtub. It was clean except for the huge spider web in the corner above the air conditioner. We loved the location as it was within walking distance to everything, but we would probably try another hotel the next time we’re in Ludington.

Room Tip: Room 135 is small, dark and noisy.

We stayed here in late July. We booked the room in mid February. The location was great, the room was disgusting. We opened the door to our room and were hit not only with a stale, musty smell, but with the odor of well, excrement. I checked to be sure there was not a used or backed up toilet, but it was clear. The smell was worse, if possible, from the bathroom. The sink was stained. The carpets were old and stained. The air conditioner was filled with clumps of dust and lint.
We requested a new room, and were given one. Carpets just as stained, musty smell, but did not smell like an outhouse. Shade in window was torn.
Neither of us showered that night, it was so small, stained up and considering the smell in the room next to us that we rejected, we did not trust that the pipes would not back up.
As in another review I read here, kids were hanging around the office, which was a bit of a turn off to me. A group of women were sitting outside next to the door smoking, including the woman who checked us in.
If you look at the pictures shown here, they must have been taken somewhere else. The response I got from the hotel was that we stayed in the old part. WHAT? Those rooms have not been redone.
This is a tear down. Location was wonderful. Hotel, awful, sleep in your car.

Room Tip: Another hotel

We tried to stay there while we were in Ludington but knew it wasn't an option as soon as we stepped into the room. The room was very small but that was not a big deal for us. The fact that the room was so full of mildew it immediately triggered my asthma... that was an issue. We went back to explain that we're couldn't stay in the room and a girl, maybe 11 or 12 came to the counter to help us. She went outside and got the woman who checked us in. After explaining the situation,
we were told that we were in the old part of the hotel built in the 1950s. That didn't matter to us. We needed to be able to breathe. She said we'd have to go through booking.com for our refund. We left without knowing whether we would get a refund, stepping over children that were laying on the floor playing in the office. Overall, it seemed to be very unprofessionally run. Booking.com later told us the property took our money and should give us the refund. Booking.com contacted the Inn for us and were able to get us our refund.

This will be our new go to hotel in Ludington, beautiful quaint beach front hotel the closest hotel to lake Michigan. Billi, the manager who checked us in went above and beyond what she needed to do, when our car broke down the day we were supposed to leave she gave us a upgraded room overlooking lake Michigan for no extra charge, their continental breakfast is very good, rooms are very clean nice pool and nice hot hot tub. Rooms come with many fridge and microwave super comfortable beds and most have a great view.
