This was our second stay at Snyder's. Yes, the location right on the beach and the State Park is superb with a beautiful view of the lake. But there are other options just about as close. I agree with other reviewers that the family owned business needs to do some investing in renovations.
We had an upstairs room with a tiny kitchen area, small bathroom. The cabinets, flooring and furnishings were all in need of replacement. Simple things like curtains falling off the rods just added to it's tired look.
We did not eat the breakfast because it looked unappetizing.
I rarely give any place a bad review, but Snyders could be a gold mine with their location and a little attention to business is in order.

Quaint hotel with cozy room and vintage furnishings. Bed was comfy, clean room, but small bathroom was a bit of a minus. Excellent location with beautiful view of the lake. Loved being right next to a beach and the shoreline.

Room Tip: Outside stairs, no elevator.

It is hard to understand how a motel in such a nice location could be managed so poorly. The rooms are nothing to get excited about, but they were clean and their condition was adequate. The location of this hotel could not be better, it is right on Lake Michigan, with excellent walking access to the local beaches. The views of the sunset from this property and its nearby beaches are priceless.

Unfortunately, the management of this property is exceedingly poor. We booked our room through Priceline, and we were also asked to provide a credit card at check in. I did not think to ask in advance whether the room had been paid through Priceline or not (sometimes they are, and sometimes they a set up for payment at the hotel). In any event, upon return, my credit card statement showed two charges, one from Priceline and another from the hotel.

This could obviously be an innocent mistake and it should have been easy to correct with the hotel. Unfortunately, all calls to the front desk over the past 5 days have gone to an answering machine with no ability to leave a message. They provide an alternative number to call, and messages to that number have not been returned. Nor has the hotel responded to email inquiries.

It is simply not acceptable for any hotel or motel to operate in a manner that prevents people from calling the hotel and speaking with a human being. If anyone had an emergency and needed to reach the hotel management, there would be no way to do so under the circumstances in which this hotel is being operated.

I am left with no choice but to call my credit card company and dispute the double charge, which seems really unfortunate.

There are other nearby hotels and motels in Luddington. I would recommend avoiding this property.

Old fashioned motel, the sort one doesn't see much of any more. Table and chairs from someone's surplus furnishings, a rocking chair. Room size adequate, the bed very comfy. Bathroom somewhat cramped but clean and stocked with everything one needs. Ask for the wifi code in the office before it closes. After 9 pm, the office is unstaffed, and our phone didn't work. Lovely little patio to sit and watch the SS Badger and the sunset. A good price during the week, somewhat pricey on the weekend.

Room Tip: West side faces Lake Michigan

Very nice so far. Just across the street from Lake Michigan. With a little balcony/porch with a lake view and rockers. The room is clean and comfortable. The bathroom is tiny but has a tub shower combo and a vanity sink separate from the toilet and tub.
I haven't tried them yet but the beds look very comfortable.
This hotel has a heated pool and hot tub both outdoors.
Very near the SS Badger car ferry across Lake Michigan.
