“Give This One a Try”

Bill and Kris made our stay at the Ludington House B & B a wonderful experience. They could not have been more helpful yet never intruded. Great recommendations for shopping and the fab ice cream in downtown Ludington (best ever!) worked well. Ludington is such a pretty little town and we were surprised that it wasn't crowded - I guess we were a little early for the summer crowd. Loved that we could walk into town. Plenty of parking at the B&B and our room had little touches (throw, robes, plenty of towels, great Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, wonderful shower head!) that we enjoyed. And let's talk about how delicious the breakfasts were (stuffed french toast and this tasty pineapple stuff ) and the snacks that were appreciated. They couldn't do enough for you and were quite knowledgable about the history of the B&B. We were encouraged to look at the other rooms - and we did. I look foward to coming back with my hubby sometime because this definitely is a B&B I want to stay at again.

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Ludington House Bed and Breakfast. The proprietors, Kris and Bill, were fairly new to this but you would have never known it. We had room 5, which had a jacuzzi, a fireplace and looked completely refurbished. The home was meticulously maintained, much nicer than some of the other B&B's down the street. The house had much of the original fixtures and woodworking, which was very nice. Breakfast was fabulous - we went down at precisely 8:30 and had our choice of either sitting at our own 2 person table, or sitting with another couple. Nice touches, such as scented oil packets for the jacuzzi, luxury towels, terry robes and chocolates were greatly appreciated. They do not take children, but the next time my husband and I are in that part of the state with no kids, we will definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Ludington House Bed and Breakfast in the middle of the week and had a wonderful time. The Victorian house, built in 1887, is located near the beach and walking distance from the downtown restaurants and shops. We booked Room 2 and it was lovely. The bed was very comfortable with soft linens. Special touches in the room like bottled water, chocolates and fluffy terrycloth robes were very much appreciated.

Our hosts, Kris and Bill Stumpf, made us feel welcome without being too intrusive. When we checked in, Bill told us a little bit about the history of the house, showed us the sitting rooms and breakfast room (where there is coffee, tea and cookies available all the time) and checked us into our room without hassle. They made a hot, hearty breakfast each morning. Our favorite was the apple french toast - YUM!

This was our first visit to a B&B and we would definately consider staying in one again based on our experience. Ludington House will be our preferred destination next time we are in Ludington.

The Ludington House B&B is one of the B&B's located closest to downtown Ludington/the beach, and we found it delightful! [Note that the review below (titled "Made me nervous") is NOT for the same The Ludington House; the reviewer is confused.] Me and my boyfriend came up for a weekend from Ann Arbor, and I didn't know when I booked it that the new owners, Bill and Kris, had just re-opened the place a month before. I wouldn't have known unless they told me, in fact, because the service was excellent and the property seemed completely finished and established, and well-maintained.

The house is an 8-room old Victorian with rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors, a lovely living room and breakfast/snack room on the first floor. We stayed in room 4, which seems to be one of the larger rooms in the house - it has a separate sitting area w/table and a couch. It was perfect for us; the only thing is that there's no shower in that room, but the original GIANT clawfoot tub was even better! Bed was very comfy. Coming from Ann Arbor, we were impressed at how quiet things were (aside from street noise), and we could walk to the heart of downtown Ludington in 5 minutes' time, which was awesome. Breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed visiting with Bill and Kris.

I'd also point out that my boyfriend had never stayed at a B&B before, and he was actually really nervous about it - he was scared everyone would try to talk to him all the time and be overwhelmingly chummy. But even he was a believer after our stay at the Ludington House! He had a great time and, I think, left a little more open-minded about accommodation options.

  • Liked — The friendliness of staff, location, and comfortable charming rooms.
  • Disliked — Room faced East so sun came in the morning; no shower in room.

This is a genuine victorian house in a great location just a few blocks from downtown and the beach. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which had a really nice whirlpool tub however the bed was kind of hard and lumpy not to mention the squeaky head board. Also this room faced the front and there was alot of traffic noise from the street so if you are a light sleeper you may want a room at the side or rear. The breakfasts were superb but be sure to give all of your food likes and dislikes when you make your reservations as alot of things show up in the food that you would not think of being on the breakfast menu. We enjoyed ourselves but would probably try somewhere else next time. It was good but not enough to make us want to rush back.
