“"Excellent Bed & Breakfast"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast has rightfully earned a first place rating in a new "B & B" category: the (A)Bove & Beyond!

Such a delightful blend of casual elegance and historical charm awaits the lucky travelers who chance to stay the night!

P.S. Jane & Bill provide breakfast cuisine that is the proverbial "cherry on top."

Staying at the Lamplighter was my first B&B experience and it was wonderful! The food was amazing, fruit soup, crepes, and the crossiant french toast were some of my favorites. Walking out of our quaint room (we stayed in the Monet room) and waking up to the smell of bacon made our weekend getaway memorable, not to mention our hosts, Jane and Bill were the perfect B&B owners. I would recommend the Lamplighter to any couple looking to getaway for a relaxing weekend in Ludington.

We wanted to getaway for a weekend after the holidays and decided to go to Ludington for some peace and quiet, and to take some pictures, we picked The Lamplighter B&B based mostly on the reviews found here as well as the pictures on their website. We reserved The Crosby Fireplace Room and were not disappointed! Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Jane offered coffee, tea, and cookies, given a tour of the house and shown to our room. The room, as well as the rest of the house, was warm, inviting, and clean. The breakfasts were always tasty, well prepared, on time and relaxing. Jane and Bill truly care about their guests and want to make sure you have the best stay you possibly can, we will definitely be back!

My wife and I came to Ludington to hike the state park and get a quick fall getaway. We choose the Lamplighter because of the wonderful reviews. Fortunately, it did not disappoint. The proprietors went out of our way to make our stay as nice as possible. Our room was small, but exceptionally clean and comfortable. After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed a fantastic night sleep. The morning breakfast also exceeded our expectations. It consisted of a fruit soup, homemade muffins, and a heart shape quiche. The presentation was exquisite and the taste was even better. We had a fantastic time and hope to be back soon.

My wife and I visited the B&B at the start of our vacation to Michigan. The location is perfect. Near the lake, restaurants and downtown. This is a great old home with well appointed rooms and great hosts. The breakfast was fabulous and relaxed. Bill and Jane really care about their guests. I can't say enough. First Class!

The inn is a short walk from the downtown and the beach. The house and rooms are very clean and don't feel as old as the house actually is. It's right on the main street, so there is a little traffic noise, but you can easily relax in the yard or common areas.

The breakfast service is really what sets the Lamplighter apart. Everyone sits at the same table, so you really get to know people, and Bill and Jane are wonderful cooks and hosts. After a few days, you really feel at home. We love dogs, and Maggie is adorable. Our only suggestion would be to put darker blinds up, so people could sleep in if they want to. Great B&B overall.

My husband and I decided to go somewhere different for our 23 wedding anniversary, a weekend close to home but still a "getaway" at the recommendation of my brother and sister in law we chose the Lamplighter in Ludington MI, we had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast so we were not sure what to epect, but what a wonderful experience and an awesome choice this place was, Bill, Jane and Maggie made us feel right at home, we loved our room, The Monet, the only bedroom on the first floor, the breakfast was simply wonderful and so elegantly presented by candle light each morning at our requested time, we happened to be the only couple in the house after our first night there and that made it even more special.
I would recommend this place as the place to stay if you are going to be in Ludington!
I definately cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: The Monet on the first floor is a great choice
