We needed a place to over-night on our way back to Ottawa from Minneapolis, and Ludington was a good stopping point after a 4 hour drive and a 4 hour ferry ride. We made a reservation online but checked in a little later than anticipated. Bill was wonderfully welcoming and introduced us to the house, our room (the Rose room) and the amenities in short order. He followed that up with a recommendation of a very nice restaurant in the area (PM Steamers) and even phoned to make a reservation for us.
The next morning we were treated to a fine breakfast (at our choice of seating times) where we met Bill's partner (Jane) and their very friendly dog (Maggie). We informally compared notes with the two other couples who were at the Lamplighter and consensus was clear....Bill, Jane & Maggie are fine hosts of a fine B&B.
Our sole regret was our schedule which did not allow us to stay in Ludington, and at the Lamplighter, any longer than a single night. I'm not sure if/when we will ever be back through the area again but if we are, we will be back to the Lamplighter.
