Our family has been vacationing in Pentwater, MI, for a week every summer for many years. This past week a friend who lives in that town asked us if liked this restaurant. We'd never even heard of it! We immediately gathered our family and drove up to this nondescript fishery and take out restaurant to try the food in the evening. The first glimpse was off-putting as it has a warehouse appearance to the outside and no visible clue that the seafood is outstanding. We stood in line with many other people and ordered our fish from the varieties arranged in the windowed display case. All but the teenager in our group of nine ordered the Lake Perch dinner. Each dinner came with fries and cole slaw, and then we ordered onion rings for the table. All drinks, canned or bottled, are in a refrigerator case by the cash register and are $1, whether for soda or water. One progresses through the line, from ordering the meal, to deciding whether it should come with or without salt, to selecting an optional beverage, in an assembly line fashion. By the time one reaches the cash register, the food is being bagged for take out. One can either take it outside to a handy picnic table on their lawn, or else take it home for dinner in your own setting. The fish, although deep fried, had no greasy taste or appearance. The fries and onion rings were hot and tasty. All nine in our group agreed that this was the best fish dinner we'd ever had, despite the take out nature of the place. We'll be going back again and again, following our excellent dining experience last week.
