Main Street Inn
Ranked #1 of 4 Lowell B&B and Inns
Reviewed November 16, 2011

The Main Street Inn is fairly new and is owned and run by a local family. They really are on top of things and treat you like family. I rented the large community room for a wedding whower this fall and is was perfect! Spacious and cozy, beautiful view on the second floor with a balcony over looking the Flat River and the Showboat. There is a lot of attention to detail in each suite and they are all different. The prices are very reasonable and they have a sitting area downstairs off the lobby to sit, have coffee and read the paper. It is located in the heart of Lowell so you are only steps away form many shops, restaurants, and activities. Lowell has many festivals throughout the year and staying at the Main Street Inn is a perfect way to enjoy them!

Room Tip: Since there are only 8 rooms, ask them to describe them to you, there will be one perfect for you.

This was a great little inn that I found in Lowell...it was such a great surprise. This historical building has been transformed into a great place to relax. Even though we were in Michigan for a family funeral, the inn made it all seem better. Our room was like relaxing at home. The bathrooms were wonderful with such large showers with 2 shower heads...next time I will have to stay in the honeymoon suite...it has a jacuzzi. Each room has a flat screen tv mounted to the walls, very nice furniture and very soft carpeting. The lounge area has beautiful leather furniture and a kitchen I would love to have at home. You cannot go wrong staying here... I have photos I will have to post later of the interior and exterior...

Room Tip: Choose a back room if you can...for such a little town, there is a lot of traffic. But any of the r...

I have a customer in Lowell so this place was very handy for me. The property is pretty new, so everything is in good shape and clean. The common area was nice since I had a room that didn't over look the river.
The service was very good too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook Main St. The shades on the windows aren't adequate to kee...

My grandmother booked three rooms for a girls night out and we TOTALLY enjoyed our stay!! Our party of 9 women "took over" the entire top floor of this hotel. There are three bedrooms upstairs. These rooms are beautiful and the beds are so comfortable!! Also, upstairs is a large kitchen and great room. This INN is so tastefully decorated with stainless appliances, leather couches and a back porch that overlooks the flat river. It has a real HOMEY atmosphere!!

The owners are still working on the finishing touches of this beautiful place. There are minor items that still need to be finished.... (a little trim/perminate shades on the windows) but these minor items did not take away from our GREAT experience.

Kudos to the owners on creating a fun, happy, inviting atmosphere! We will be back for sure!!!

ALSO.....The town that the Main Street Inn is located in is a peaceful, family type, full of life town!! In the summer... Lowell, MI has amazing events that take place weekly. Thursday nights there are bands that play on the Lowell Showboat. You can hear the music from the back deck of this INN!! The resturants in Lowell serve delicious food..... and there are some great little shops to find treasures in!

The Main Street Inn is a newly (and beautifully) built out property of only 7 rooms right on the Flat River in historic Lowell, opening just this past Thanksgiving. We stayed here between Christmas and New Years while visiting family. The place has exquisite furnishings, from plumbing fixtures to crown moldings and baseboards and thick carpets to expensive dressers and side-tables, and relaxing paint color, all in a style that fits the mid-1800's feel of the town. Our large room had 12’ (14’?) ceiling, a sumptuous king-size down-filled bed and pillows covered in designer linens, thick cotton towels and robes. I understand most rooms overlook the river-- ours did; all have access to a wrap-around deck over the water. The bathroom was huge, tiled in stone, with walk-in dual showers. The Inn has two kitchens: one smaller half-kitchen in a street level meeting room, one spacious full kitchen with island in an upstairs space attached to a "family room” complete with flat screen television (our room had a flat screen, too). The sofas and chairs are inviting, overstuffed, soft brown leather. The Inn’s 7 rooms can accommodate a variety of groups: a small family stayed across the hall from us in a room with one large bed and one smaller; as we checked out a larger party had booked the upper rooms for New Years. The Inn would work well for both small business meetings or large family groups, and we hope to book it out for our guests when we have our Midwest wedding. Most importantly, the proprietors, Greg and Deb, bent over backwards to make our stay perfect: going so far as to run out late at night to procure us a corkscrew for our wine, and, when a workman mistakenly completed installing a handicap bar in an adjacent space while we were still in our room, Greg insisted on buying me and my partner breakfast for the inconvenience of the noise. The only caveat here is that the place is not yet completely built out, with a few finishing touches necessary, but the owners are doing such a beautiful, quality job, that we didn't mind. And even though Deb and Greg will freely admit they're new at running an inn-- and they do have some things to learn-- they’re so obviously committed to doing it right, and they're so very friendly, that we found it a true pleasure to stay there.
