My husband and I just returned from renting a villa with friends to attend a wedding on June 1st. While the wedding was beautiful and we all managed to have fun, the resort was a huge disappointment.

It started with having trouble making our reservations. The wedding invitations came out with the directions on how to make a reservation, but because the resort didn't officially "open" for a few weeks, no one could get through. Shouldn't they have anticipated that and let the bride's family know before the invites were mailed? Once the resort opened, some of the "mom's" thought it would be fun to have a spa afternoon. Once again, there was no information on their website and when I inquired via their "contact us" page, no one ever responded. It took several more phone calls to make a reservation.

While the villa was clean, when I went to use the shower, the knob came off in my hands. The grounds for the most part were well kept, although there were weeds growing around the pool area. And our friends, that stayed in another unit woke up to the sounds of an animal in their heat ducts. Once again, since it's the beginning of their season, shouldn't those type of repairs and maintenance already be taken care of?

The food in the restaurants and at the wedding was fair, but the service was slow and many workers seem to be untrained. Even when we went to check out, there were mistakes.

They either need a change of ownership or management before we would even consider going back. Oh, and I did notify them of these things along the way and offered to share my concerns with a manager, but was never contacted.

My wife and I stayed at the main lodge of Garland, played a couple of rounds of golf, ate dinner at the restaurant in the lodge, and drove away very disappointed. The best part of our experience was leaving and knowing that we will never return there again. The grounds look nice, but the employees and management ruin that as soon as you arrive. The bad attitudes and terrible customer service from the staff can only be described as sad and embarrassing. They make you feel as though your presence is an inconvenience to them. My wife and I believe that good people usually make all the difference in the world. Unfortunately, the staff at Garland represents quite the opposite.

After being here for several years for a golf trip with the boys I was surprised with how terrible the service was this year ( and the poor attitudes of staff). Previously they had been accomodating and excellent. There are now so mnay rules you feel like a grade 1 kid! We arrived around 12 noon and hoped to check in to our rooms before golf ( to shower and hang up clothes etc.). We were told - NO check in is 4:00 pm. The rooms were cleaned and ready and the resort had very few people there but they would not let us in - that's the rule. The food vouchers had to be signed and also your receipts or there was big trouble. Their best course ( Fountains) is now private and you cannot play there - we were not told of this before booking. The AC in the main lodge was not on yet ( it was a sweltering 40 C with humidex) and it took 2 nights to be relocated to a chalet with AC. The staff took th ebrunt of complaints and it seemed they were frustrated also. It appears there has been a change in management and a chang ein the level of service. I doubt our group ( over 30 ) will be back and I know I won't be back. It's no fun getting away golfing with the boys if you have to be told what to do and what not to do for four days. The owner needs to reassess the operations of this resort.

Garland, like most resorts, has rules and policies in place to ensure all guests are able to enjoy themself. Rooms are guaranteed ready for check in at 4:00pm, if the rooms are ready sooner then we will check a guest in sooner. As a benefit for our members Fountains golf course has been designated as a private members only course. Our groups and members have been notified of this. Our staff are well trained and in full communication with management and our directors.

This property is beautiful. Golf resort and Spa. My husband took me there for a birthday celebration. The fall colors were three quarters complete so the landscape was breathtaking.

Thank you for choosing Garland Lodge & Resort for your Birthday Weekend Celebration! We are thrilled you had a fun and memorable stay with us. The autumn colors this year were simply breathtaking. The King Suite Villa you stayed in would have been ideal to enjoy this beauty in the secluded environment you described. I do apologize that you were not made aware of our weekly entertainment schedule. We strive to inform our guests of all Garland has to offer them throughout their stay so they can enjoy all aspects of our resort. We look forward to seeing you again for the 2013 season.

We had our wedding at Garland Lodge & Resort. We could not have asked for better service and lodging. Ashley Mayra was absolutely outstanding and I could not have asked for a better Coordinator. The Garland staff was first class. We looking forward to future events at this first class establishment.

Just attended a wedding that took place at Garland. I can't say enough about the staff, food and the lodging. Our family spent the entire weekend starting on Friday, Oct 5th and leaving Sunday, Oct 7th. The food served for the rehearsal dinner and wedding was absolutely fabulous. The facility could not have accommodated all of any better. Our villa was spotless and very cozy and roomy. The fall colors were beautiful and so is the resort. What a gorgeous place to have a wedding.

Our entire team is still talking about the wedding and what a great event we were honored to host. The ability to exceed expectations for such a large event gives each team member motivation to conquer any challenges that may arise.

We are so pleased to hear you and your family had such a great experience even though we had all four seasons of weather in three days! We post each review where team members can observe the guest comments and I can assure you we appreciate each and every review.

We do hope to have you return for another visit in 2013. Have a great Winter season.

My husband and I just returned from a three day visit to the Garland Lodge and Resort for their Close of the Season Special. Overall, we had a wonderful stay with very little to complain about. Most of the staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating to any need we had.
We were struck by the friendliness of just about everyone. The price was a steal...for $69 a night per person, we stayed in a single villa with 18 holes of golf, including the cart. We thought there must be a catch, but there wasn't.
Although the villa that we stayed in is getting a bit tired looking inside, and in need of an update, it was clean and efficient and had everything we needed. We are particular about beds, and the king sized bed we had was great!
The golf was absolutely fantastic! We were able to golf at a leisurely pace on Reflections and Monach, with no one breathing down our necks. We were so happy with everything, that we tacked on a third day to take advantage of this great deal.
We enjoyed two great lunches in the bar with exceptional service and great food. Our only real complaint was the horrible breakfast buffet that we had on one of the mornings. For a pricey $13, we had dried eggs, dried potatoes, stale bread, and no coffee mugs for a long time until we could find someone to get them. When we complained, the waitress only apologized and nothing was done to rectify the mediocrity. As we were leaving, she came over and told us that a warming tray of new eggs were put out, but it was way too late. We actually complained at the desk about this one complaint when we checked out, but again, we were not reimbursed, although he did apologize profusely.
We had two great dinners at the Lewiston Lodge in Lewiston, about 5 miles away. Definitely worth the drive. We also had a great all you can eat dinner of walleye in Luzerne at Ma Deeters. Both of these places are very casual, but with great food and good service.
We would definitely return to The Garland again, in spite of the one complaint pertaining to the breakfast. We had a wonderful three days of excellent golf and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: The single villa was great for us. It does not have a kitchen, only a mini fridge and a coffee pot...

Thank you for taking time to present a review on your stay with us. We are very happy to hear you had a wonderful and memorable experience. You are right, the Fall special is a great value and we will continue to offer a similar promotion next Fall.

The breakfast experience really concerns us as we pride ourselves on exceptional and consistent service and product. We make no excuses and I can assure you our director of food and beverage will make this right so no one else has to experience inferior product.

We look forward to serving you again and please know we take all guest comments seriously.
