“Great Hotel, but some areas in need of renovation”
Reviewed September 16, 2005

The Radisson Hotel Lansing gives an excellent first impression. The lobby and meeting facilities are very fancy and well appointed. Our group used pretty much the entire convention center for two days, and everything about it was great.

The rooms that our group stayed in (on the fourth floor) were fine. The room that I stayed in (on the front-facing side) seemed to have been recently renovated (new wallpaper, new headboards, bathroom remodeled, etc.) The other room, on the opposite side of the hotel, was a little older looking. Everything was a little more worn, and the wallpaper style looked somewhat dated. Both rooms were, however, very clean and comfortable.

On the lower floors (at least on the fourth), I believe that the front facing rooms are renovated and the rear facing rooms are not, but I could be wrong. Some of the upper floors have renovated hallways, so I believe that the rooms on those floors might all be renovated as well. The tenth floor hallway appears to be one of those that was recently renovated. The carpet appeared new, and I did not notice any stains (as was reported in a previous review).

The swimming pool, exercise room, and sauna facilities were all great. It's a nice place to relax.

All in all, this hotel is fine. Its location can't be beat.

My daughters and I stayed at the Radisson to attend the 2005 Great Lakes Feis (an Irish step dancing competition) at the Lansing Convention Center in late August. Front desk was very friendly and competent, but it probably helped that I am a Radisson Gold Rewards member. Downtown Lansing resembles a ghost town on that summer weekend. Restaurant wasn't open in the mid-afternoon on Saturday, so we ate bar food. Carpet on the 10th floor was heavily stained. Hallways were very hot and muggy in August. Beds were ok. Bathroom is large with a long countertop, which was great for girls getting ready in the morning. Gift shop attendant was cordial. We ordered room service for breakfast the next morning before our competition, and even though the staff was busy, our food was delivered in 40 minutes still warm. Valet parking was $7 per night, but I was charged $5, perhaps because I am a Radisson Gold Rewards member. You can reach the convention center from the second floor at the Radisson by taking a short walk via the connected covered pedestrian walkway, which is handicapped-accessible and stroller-friendly. Hotel is average for a 3 star, it's too convenient *not* to stay here if you have business at the Lansing convention center.

Great Property! Everything we needed in one spot! Great room, close to convention center, great food (capitol city grille) and great staff. We worked with GM Kenric Hall and AGM Tim Kuhlman, they made our group stay the best we have had to date. If you need something these guys will make it happen! Ritz service at a great rate!

I loved this place. Yes, it is your basic hotel but it was the service that set it apart. The restaurant servers remembered our name from the last time we stayed there one year ago. Delicious food, great live entertainment. It is worth the extra money to stay right downtown.
