“Great car museum”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

This is a great place to visit if you. Like to see the history of the automobile. The collection covers all of the vehicles built by both the Oldsmobile and the REO auto companies. It is interesting to see how Mr. Olds turned a local wagon builder into a major national car company. It is located close to downtown Lansing and the state Capitol building and there are restaurants nearby.

“Cool place to learn about Oldsmobiles”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

This is a cool little museum. Pretty good history of Oldsmobile. Lots of old Oldsmoblie vehicles.....not enough I think of the newer ones, but they are limited on space. I did speak with someone on their board and he said they are looking to add more space to house more vehicles.

“Not the most exciting thing”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Cool peek into history, the history in Lansing is tied up with Ransom Olds and it is fascinating. That said, it has a narrow perspective.

“Historical marker gives history”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Outside the museum is a State of Michigan historical marker. One side has a short biography on Ransom Eli Olds. The other side the story of the "Curved Dash Oldsmobile". These sgns should be read when visiting the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum.

“fascinating and a little sad...”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

...given that the last Oldsmobile was made in 2004. Plenty of pretty shiny things to look at, interesting to see the development of certain models over the years. Easy to see why they mark 1951 - 1975 off as the "golden period" - there weren't many models made after the '70s that I'd have given garage-room to. I recommend Bob Lutz's book, "Car Guys and Bean Counters", if this place makes you want to find out more about GM's recent history.
