The Capitol bldg is beautiful and historical. Taking a formal tour is the best way to get the history of the building and of Michigan. Contacting a senator or representative might also lead to a tour of their offices. Definitely worth the time if you are in the Lansing area.

The Capitol building is elegant and very cool to check out. What I found most appealing was the architecture. The design from the outside is very cool and fun to photograph. There is a lot of rich history and facts that you can learn while exploring inside and around the building. If you have some time its worth a visit!

My daughter was in town for a competition called Odyssey of the Mind. While there, my friend and I took our two daughters who are in the fifth grade to the Capital building. We tagged along with another school group who happened to be in the fifth grade as well. We met two senators and had many questions answered. When our tour group had to leave, we asked if we could see some more of the beautiful building. The staff accommodated us to other parts of the building, gave us specific information about the painting, pictures on the wall, etc. It was a wonderful tour and well worth the time. They have a great staff who take the time with children as well as adults. I would highly recommend!

One of America's great buildings, this masterpiece of a capitol has grandeur, true characteristics of the state, and actual government activity all in the same place. Fortunately, it doesn't cost anything to visit, and there are no metal detectors to prevent you from easily visiting. Parking is often readily available, except during days when the legislature is in session.

Worth driving a ways to see. Afterwards, take a walk around the (often ignored) grounds, and head to the Historical Museum

This capitol is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings. It is rather like a geode: plain and brown on the inside, but sparkly and beautiful on the inside. The interior of the dome is beautiful, as are the many pinkish panels on the interior walls.
