“Surprising Gem”

With the neon sign blinking and vintage signage beckoning, Vic's Cabins is an authentic stay in Upper Michigan. This is not for the Holiday Inn Express crowd, the vintage cabins have been cleaned to perfection, the charm is in the quaint size of the rooms and courtyard setting. I cannot think of when I slept on such crisp and puffy sheets and bedding. I always drove by the cabins in year's past, was curious, and now know they are a surprising gem.

Room Tip: You may want to get a cabin adjacent to another if you are traveling in groups. The walls do not pr...

4 of us stayed in cabin 12, which is a unit with 2 beds. It was a little tight, and all 4 of us could not sit at the table, but otherwise, it was perfect for us. The beds are comfortable, and even though it is on the highway, the noise level didn't seem too bad.

The cost is well below that of a hotel room, and the cabins are centrally located in the Keweenaw, giving us easy access to explore in any direction. I would definitely stay here again.

This place is unusual and it is excellent for what it is -- a cabin court that appears to be from the 1930s. There are maybe 6 or so duplex cabins, all painted white. Our cabin unit had a small kitchen, small bedroom, and small bathroom. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had all that we needed, the bathroom was clean, and the place just had a vibe that we liked. The owner was friendly and helpful as well.

The unit was *not* air-conditioned, and we were a bit apprehensive because it was a hot day, but it cooled down just fine with the fan provided with the room. The clapboard siding looks a bit rough if you look at it closely, but don't worry, the interior of the cabin was well maintained.

If you are looking for a large, air-conditioned motel room with breakfast and a pool, this isn't for you. But this was great for us and we'd definitely return.

Very friendly staff and quiet area. Wished it was further off the highway, but aside from that it was great. Bed was very soft, but comfy. Nice little kitchen that was stocked with needed cookware. Room was tiny, but no need for much space when out and about. Could use some other window covers since it gets bright very early. We hung towels in the windows! But no major complaints. Can't do better for the price! And the area is well worth the trip! Gorgeous!
