I stayed here with friends for the Medieval Studies Congress in Kalamazoo last weekend. The room was quiet and clean, the rollaway bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was decent (make-your-waffles, fresh fruit, and a variety of cereals and breads). The front desk clerks, especially Melanie and Holly, were cheerful and helpful, and the hotel could not be better located for events at WMU.

The only complaints I have are occasionally spotty wifi (not really an issue since it was free) and a small bathroom, but neither was a big deal. We will definitely be back next year!

Third stay in 3 years. Quality and amenities have been consistent. Welcoming desk clerk, very helpful. Room was just about the same size as more expensive hotel rooms. Bed is very firm. Rooms are always clean, have never seen anything out of place or any speck of dust. Bath towels are short and scratchy, which is consistent with a lower cost hotel. Free breakfast has much to offer, eggs are dry but present, there are several kinds of bread, cereals hot and cold, make it yourself waffles, sausage, coffee, juices. Food is available up through closing time of breakfast, much nicer than many other free breakfast hotels which close early. I think the management of this hotel values and promotes good customer service. Close to highway.

Room Tip: Get a room high up.

Hi,
I stayed for almost a month at Baymont Kalamazoo during end Jan'12 to end Feb'12. My booking was pre-arranged thru my colleague in the US. As the duration of my stay was longer I wanted an option close to my office and not very expensive.

Their standard rooms are nice with adequate space for a single guest. It was mostly clean and the room had a microwave, refrigerator and nice TV cabinet. The check in process did not take much time though the hotel was not able to sign my in thru the credit card, therefore I had to pay for my initial few days rent in cash.

Locationwise this hotel is outside the main city or downtown but not too far as Kalamazoo is a very small town. However, it has access to small shops nearby for you get buy the necessities. Breakfast was provided and was nice with standard options. I found room service to be inadequate on most of the days though their reception was mostly helpful.

Overall i thought this place was good value for money and would not mind staying again at their rates.

Room Tip: They have some nice room options available at economical rates thus do check all options before you finalize.

The hotel is just off the 131 and near to the 94 for access to K'zoo, Detroit or Chicago. The Red Roof Inn is right next door. There's not much withing walking distance of the hotel. Burdicks at the Holiday Inn is only about 5 minutes away on foot and they're not too bad, but that's about it.

Check in was fast and painless, though you may need to make your presence known to get someone to come out of the back room to help. Fresh cookies on the desk on arrival but not seen them back there since. Shame.

Rooms are fine, although there is no safe in the room for valuables and only limited space to hang clothes. Old CRT TV was replaced with an LG 32" LCD panel during the stay. Bigger screen, but worse picture as everything still seems to be distributed in analogue. Bathrooms are a bit small and dingy but clean enough and the shower had good pressure, even on the top floor.

Breakfast is average. There is the same "scrambled-egg"-style product which is incredibly dry and crumbly making it difficult to handle, sausagemeat patties and some gravy in the hot food containers. Breads, cereals, juices, tea and coffee are also available, though it's the same mix every day which can get old. Also, the plastic cuttlery they use has to be some of the cheapest around. The knives are very small and blunt, and it's no fun eating cereal with a tea spoon. The plastic plates are not much better. A hot muffin right out of the toaster managed to melt the plate it was on!

They don't advertise it in the in-room guide, but there is a guest laundry on the 2nd floor. Just one washer and one dryer, but they are only $1 each, and detergent/bounce is available in the vending machine outside the room.

Internet works fine, although there is a "click here to connect" page you have to go through, which is a pain for smartphone use when you just want to check your mail but have to fire up the browser first, or overnight when the session times out and your phone stops collecting new mail.

This probably the best of the bunch for the price around Kalamazoo. After much research I chose this as there was somewhere to eat/drink within walking distance which is pretty rare in the area, and the price wasn't too bad. May stay here again, but there's nothing particularly special about the place.

Room Tip: Top floor is quieter although there's only one elevator, so lower floors are easier to access.

Checked in late, and they were very accomodating to giving us as late as possible check out the next day. Clean room, good breakfast...close to our local activities. Would definately stay at this location again.
