“Good hotel for Kalamazoo”
Reviewed July 29, 2006

Booked two nights using Marriott points to visit family. Clean rooms and lots of room. The only point I have to make is that we were in a room facing I-94 and the traffic noise was loud. I am a light sleeper and this kept me up at night. In the future I will stay here again, but just get a room on the parking lot side.

  • Liked — Location is very close to airport but did not hear airplanes
  • Disliked — Traffic noise in outer rooms
  • Tips/Secrets — Book parking-lot side rooms

Got this hotel through a bid on priceline- we bid $40 a nite and I think we over paid- if you bid for kalamazoo, bid $30/nite max.

It was a nice enough place, but the clientele there left a bit to be desired, and there is very little to do in the immediate area around the hotel.

Staff was very nice, but the Marriott/Residence website listed the pool as heated- don't believe it! It was arctic cold in the pool morning, noon, and night! and the pool is very small, so when the "guests", or inbreeds as we referred to them, began doing dives, backflips, etc, there was no other room in the pool to get away from those imbeciles.

room was nicely appointed with a king bed and a queen pull out. the breakfast was very nice- waffle maker, fresh fruit, donuts, bagels, juice/coffee, yogurt, cereal, and freshly made eggs, sausage patties, potatoes/grits, french toast/biscuits. it was one of the nicest free breakfasts we've ever seen.

if this hotel was in a better location we'd definitely stay again!

My husband and I just celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary and wanted a few days get-away somewhat close to home. Kalamazoo is about an hour and a half from our home and we found the Residence Inn a delightful experience. The staff was most helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet well above our expectations. (We had planned on finding a local resturant for breakfast but after trying the buffet at the Inn the first morning, we never went anywhere else.)

They are in the process of renovating the inside/outside which will make a second stay in the near future even more enjoyable. As it was, the amenities, size and cleanliness of the room were very favorable even before the work is completed.

We highly recommend this as a great place to stay, especially for longer than just one night.

I stayed here in mid January '05. The rooms could use some updating but I had no problems. The breakfast is good. Ask for a room close to the gatehouse. My room was quite a walk in the mornings. The staff here is excellent. Even saw them clear the snow off of everyone's car the first morning that I was there. Biggest problem is that it is hard to find. No signs and you must make one of those "Michigan U-Turns" to get to it. Make sure you have good directions.
