The last Godfather's pizza we had in an actual restaurant was in Kalamazoo. It was fantastic. We moved to Florida and the only place to get it is in a gas station. Just not the same. If we ever get back up there, we'll certainly stop by. It's the best pizza anywhere.

On Monday and Tuesdays Godfather's offers a dinner bar. They keep a steady stock of a a good variety of pizza, bread sticks, salad, and dessert pizzas. The food is great and the prices are even better. they charge by the age of the child so it is one of the few places that I can afford a night out with my 3 children. I have never spent more than $20 and everyone leaves happy!

The ORIGINAL "Godfather's Combo" pizza, as it was introduced to me in the early 1980s in the Sylvania, Ohio location (closed long ago), was the pizza that changed my idea of how good a pizza could ever taste. My previous all-time favorite pizza, was the "Numero Uno", from Uno's Pizza in Ann Arbor, Mi. (that location at South University in Ann Arbor, Mi. closed long ago, as well).

The pizzas that the Godfather's Stores in Sylvania, Findlay, and Middletown, Ohio served to me in the eighties, were the best I've ever eaten. Unfortunately all of these locations have closed.

The Godfather's Original Combo (not the Super-combo), on the original type crust, used to have amazing amounts of cheese and sausage, and I swear the pizza was an inch and a half thick in some places and the perfect pizza had bubbly browned cheese on top.

This location in Kalamazoo, serves pizza that pales in comparison to those perfect pies of glory from my memory. The current version of the original Godfather's Combo, is still tops on my list of what a pizza should taste like, but you have to order extra sausage nowadays to equal the quantity that used to be standard way back in the 1980s.

Try and find a coupon if you can, because the prices are high... but always worth it. The Godfather's corporate website usually has some sort of coupon deal.

Ok, I guess I should write a review of the actual Kalamazoo location.

The Godfather's Pizza on Cork Street in Kalamazoo has been at this location for a long time, and is showing it's age. This location offers a pizza buffet which has pretty good pizzas, but most buffet pizzas are wimpy thin pizzas, with sparse toppings (not the wonderful "Combo"). The buffet price is a lot higher than other pizza buffets (CiCi's), so it's just an average deal.

If you are in a hurry, the buffet is the way to go, but if you have the time to wait for a custom made "Original Godfather's Combo", that is what I'd highly recommend.

The Godfather's Original Combo rates a number 10 in my list of favorite pizzas. Here are some other pizzas that I'd highly recommend:

PizzaPapalis at Greektown, Detroit, Michigan
Giordano's Famous Chicago Pizza
Pizzaria Uno (the original location only, not the chain restaurants)
Gino's East, Chicago, Il. (the one downtown or Old Town)
Greek Pizza at Nikki's Greek Restaurant, Greektown, Detroit, Mi.
Shield's Pizza, Maple road in Troy, Mi.
The "Latina's Best" in Flint Michigan
Guido's Pizza "Da Boss" pizza, Grand Blanc, Mi.
The "Jet 10" at Jet's pizza (all locations)
