As others have said, this was a wonderful hotel, except for the thin walls. The room was spacious, clean, new, lighting was great, and staff was friendly, etc. However a whiny 3 year old spoiled our evening, and also woke us in the middle of the night. The walls were so thin that we could hear every word of the adult conversations next door. The hotel was an easy off/easy on the interstate, and very near a Cracker Barrel. However, given the thin walls, we would not return to an otherwise nice hotel.

Reviewed October 6, 2013

We arrived on Friday October 4, 2013 for a youth hockey tournament. We were a late entry and this hotel was all that was available due to many other sporting events in town this same weekend. We had 15 rooms booked for 2 nights. The hotel is located right off the highway; it was extremely easy to find. It was within walking distance to a Cracker Barrel and less than 1 mile away was numerous fast food (culvers, arbys) and gas stations. The hotel itself was adequate. The room was as described (1 queen with a pull out bed) with fridge and microwave. Breakfast was bread, bagels, waffles, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, microwavable biscuit sandwiches, and juice/coffee. Here is the problem we had...not with the property but with some of the people who manage and work at the hotel. Upon checking in our group was gathering in the lobby to head out to your first event and the manager of the hotel started in on our kids and parents. Now, as travel hockey parents we spend a lot of time on the road and in hotels. Our kids are expected to behave and listen. But, the bottom line is that they are 9 and 10 years old. There were 15 of them. Plus siblings. And parents. They are going to make noise. Even if they aren't being rambunctious or rowdy. The manager threated to confiscate their shinny hockey sticks that they were CARRYING. Not hitting anything with. Not throwing around. Not batting a ball with. CARRYING. The next day the same manager started an argument with me in front of other guests and families about complaints the night before about noise. Our kids were in bed and sleeping before 10pm due to an early game. There were other sports teams in the hotel but he wasn't starting anything with them. I have never been spoken to in such a rude and disrespectful way before. I tried to find out details about the complaints but all he did was threated to eject us from the property if we were noisy again. He said he would be back at 9pm and midnight to walk the property to ensure we were being quiet. Again, the kids were in bed early Saturday night due to an early game on Sunday. The parents again were meeting in the breakfast nook to talk so the kids could sleep. One our parents caught the manager with his ear up to the door listening for noise at our rooms. Another employee went into one of our rooms without knocking or announcing. We were berated in the elevator and stairs by this manager and employee. Our kids were yelled at for walking up the stairs (because the elevator was out of service). At one point the manager asked the lobby full of parents who were gathering so we could leave for another event if "anyone else wanted to say anything to him" as if to start a fight. Our kids were there to witness that. I understand that it is a business hotel. Don't book a hockey tournament block of rooms that you know is going to contain kids if you can't handle them.
